This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
The Elbaf arc in *One Piece* has created an ideal setting for the Straw Hat Pirates to become more powerful. Currently, the land is filled with powerful Demons created by Imu, who appears to be the biggest threat. He’s supported by formidable allies like Dorry and Brogy, along with other dangerous demons.
Things are getting more complicated with two additional Holy Knights, Killingham and Sommers, currently in Elbaf. The Straw Hat Pirates have plenty of enemies to deal with, though some are incredibly powerful and will require significant strength to overcome. Interestingly, there’s a possibility that one member of the crew might gain a Devil Fruit power.
No Straw Hat Has Eaten A Devil Fruit On Screen

- Luffy Ate A Devil Fruit Before The Crew Was Formed
- Robin, Brook, and Chopper Are Other Devil Fruit Users
In the anime and manga *One Piece*, most strong fighters gain their abilities from Devil Fruits. While a few legendary characters like Roger, Rocks, Shanks, and Garp are exceptions, most top-level pirates and marines rely on these fruits for their power. Within the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy’s Devil Fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is what allows him to reach his full potential.
Luffy, did you eat that fruit? It was a Devil Fruit! You’ll be cursed by the sea — Shanks
Several other members of the crew, like Robin, Brook, and Chopper, also possess Devil Fruit powers. It’s actually quite odd that, despite all their adventures together, so few Straw Hats have encountered Devil Fruits. Maybe that will change when they reach Elbaf, especially since one crew member really needs to become much stronger.
Usopp Might Be The First To Gain A Devil Fruit
Usopp’s Weapons Need More Power

Usopp is a Straw Hat crew member who really needs to level up during the Elbaf arc. Many fans expect big things from him there, but so far, he hasn’t been living up to expectations. He’ll need to become much stronger eventually, and a Devil Fruit power could be the key to helping him do that.
I am Captain Usopp! I have 8,000 men under my command. — Usopp
Some fans might disagree with the idea of Usopp gaining Devil Fruit powers. As a sniper, a Devil Fruit’s abilities don’t seem like a natural fit. However, characters like Van Augur demonstrate that combining both fighting styles can be very effective.
Usopp wouldn’t eat a Devil Fruit himself, but his weapon, Kuro Kabuto, could. Kuro Kabuto is already powerful thanks to the Pop Greens, but it would become truly unbeatable if it consumed a Devil Fruit and gained its powers.
Usopp’s Kabuto Could Evolve Even Further

If the story moves to Elbaf, Usopp will probably have the chance to beat a powerful opponent, like one of the Holy Knights or a Giant who has eaten a Domi Reversi fruit. To keep up with the rest of the crew, though, Usopp really needs to acquire a Devil Fruit of his own.
The next chapter of One Piece, chapter 1163, will be released in two weeks, as usual on a Sunday. While it becomes available in Japan at midnight on Monday, most fans around the world will be able to read it on October 26, 2025. You can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
