The Switch 2 version of ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition has been significantly improved, offering better graphics and smoother gameplay. However, initial feedback from players indicates the update isn’t perfect and some issues remain.
ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition has been available on the Nintendo eShop since November 2022. It includes the core ARK: Survival Evolved game, plus five expansion packs: Aberration, Extinction, Scorched Earth, and both parts of Genesis.
ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition Gets Visual and Performance Improvements to Switch 2
An update for the popular game was released on the eShop on October 15th. Version 2.0.14 is designed to make the most of the Switch 2’s improved power, offering higher resolution, smoother gameplay, and better graphics like shadows and anti-aliasing. While the official details are limited, the update promises the best possible ARK experience on the Switch 2. To celebrate the launch, ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition is currently 60% off on the eShop, priced at $19.99 until November 5th.
ARK: Survival Evolved Reportedly Still Has Frame Rate Issues on Switch 2
Initial reports from players show the newest game update boosts the handheld resolution to 1080p, making the most of the Switch 2’s Full HD screen. Many fans have also noticed better anti-aliasing, meaning edges look smoother after the update. However, performance seems inconsistent. One player reported that the update actually made the game run *worse* in some situations. Before the October 15th patch, players could use console commands to unlock the frame rate and increase the resolution to 1080p on the Switch 2. But after the update, the player says the game now runs at 1080p automatically, though at only 25 frames per second, increasing to 60fps when looking at the sky.
ARK: Survival Evolved Is Shutting Down Some Switch Servers
The team behind the Nintendo Switch version of the game hasn’t yet commented on the problems players are reporting. However, they’ve announced a new update (version 2.0.14) will be released in Japan and other Asian countries around October 20th. With this update, they also plan to combine players onto fewer official servers to make it easier to moderate and improve the online experience. Players on servers that will be shut down are encouraged to use the in-game transfer tool to move to a different server before November 5th.
