“Somehow Ingo Returned” Pokemon Legends: Z-A Drops Massive Lore Bombs for Two Characters

Following the success of *Pokémon Legends: Arceus*, *Pokémon Legends: Z-A* includes a museum dedicated to the Hisui region, which fans of the previous game will appreciate. However, this isn’t just a simple nod to *Arceus*; carefully exploring the museum reveals surprising details about what happened to two beloved characters from the earlier game.

Ingo Returned Home Via Mysterious Methods

A surprising character from older Pokémon games, Ingo—one of the Subway Bosses from *Pokémon Black and White*—appeared in *Pokémon Legends: Arceus*. He somehow traveled back in time and became a member of the Pearl Clan, working alongside the Pokémon Sneasler. Ingo had lost his memories, including those of his brother Emmett, and at the game’s end, he stayed in the ancient Hisui region with no apparent way to return to his own time.

The museum in Legends: Arceus has an exhibit about Ingo, explaining that he was a knowledgeable Pokémon teacher who mysteriously disappeared one day. The exhibit states he left, feeling it was time to return, but doesn’t explain how he left the Hisui region or knew when to do so. Elsewhere in the city, another character mentions wanting to battle Ingo and Emmett, suggesting they have both returned.

Stories tell of a man named Ingo who was a skilled teacher of Pokémon training. However, he mysteriously disappeared one day, leaving behind only the words, ‘It is time for me to return.’

Players are coming up with ideas about how Ingo made it back home, with theories ranging from the legendary Pokémon Arceus being involved, to the player character from *Legends: Arceus* assisting him. The sudden and unexplained way he left has also reminded many people of the famous “Somehow, Palpatine returned” meme from *Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker*.

Volo May Still Be Around In The Modern Day

One of the exhibits in the Legends: Z-A’s museum features the memorable outfit Volo wore during his battle with players in Legends: Arceus. Volo was a secretive character who initially seemed like a simple merchant, but later revealed his plan to defeat Arceus and his alliance with Giratina. Though he lost the battle, Volo disappeared afterward, and his ultimate fate remains a mystery.

Talking to a museum guide who’s looking at Volo’s clothes reveals they were personally donated to the museum by the person who wore them. The guide also remembers this person seemed wistful while looking at the exhibits. This suggests Volo lived to the present day, and might even still be alive during the events of *Legends: Z-A* – though unfortunately, he doesn’t make an appearance himself.

It’s unclear how Volo survived for centuries after the events of *Pokemon Legends: Arceus*. There’s no solid explanation for his continued existence. Some theories suggest Giratina might have given him immortality, or that he became immortal while working with Giratina to create the time rifts. Another idea is that the player character, through their connection with Arceus, unintentionally made him immortal.

But the bigger question is whether Volo might appear in future *Pokemon* games, assuming he’s still alive in some way. It would be a fun surprise to see him show up as an Easter egg in the next *Pokemon* generation, likely Generation 10, or in a future *Legends* game. It would also be fascinating if he could meet Cynthia, who might be his descendant.
