Battlestate Games has announced that Escape from Tarkov is being released on consoles. They also shared details about the first downloadable content (DLC) coming after launch, and hinted at future games within the Escape from Tarkov universe.
Back in April 2025, Battlestate COO Nikita Buyanov jokingly said that Escape from Tarkov would come to the Game Boy before it came to consoles. Most fans took this as a way of saying a console version was unlikely. But it seems the statement was even more of a lighthearted comment than people realized.
Escape from Tarkov Coming to Consoles After All
So, I was watching the aftermovie from Battlestate’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 showcase, and Buyanov casually dropped some huge news! Apparently, *Escape from Tarkov* is actually coming to consoles! He didn’t say much about it, just mentioned it in passing, and didn’t specify *which* consoles. But honestly, if they’re planning a release soon, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S seem like the obvious choices. It’s a bit surprising considering what Buyanov said about the Game Boy recently, but it *does* line up with something a former Battlestate dev, Pavel Dyatlov, said way back in 2020 – they were already thinking about a console port back then!
Escape from Tarkov’s First Post-Launch DLC Will Focus on Scav Life
During the TGS 2025 recap, Battlestate’s COO announced the first downloadable content (DLC) for the game will be called “Scav Life.” This name suggests the DLC will center around the Scavs, one of the game’s six playable factions. Considering *Escape from Tarkov* is set to launch on November 15th, and development on the DLC won’t start until after that, “Scav Life” likely won’t be available until at least the second half of 2026.

New Games from Escape from Tarkov Universe Are Also in the Works
Following the full release of the game, Battlestate Games has announced plans for several major events. They are also working on a new map and multiple additional games set within the *Escape from Tarkov* world. These new titles, currently in early development, will be spin-offs – not direct sequels – designed to keep the *Escape from Tarkov* experience going strong for many years. While in pre-production, it’s expected to be quite some time before these new games are actually released.
The full version of *Escape from Tarkov* will be released on Steam. However, there’s no information yet about when it will be available on consoles.
