Digimon Story: Time Stranger Has Officially Beaten Pokemon Legends Z-A

Although both games have received similar scores from critics, *Digimon Story: Time Stranger* has significantly outperformed *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* in user ratings. *Digimon Story: Time Stranger* was released earlier this month after being announced eight years ago. In this new installment of the popular series, players build a team of Digimon to battle through dungeons and challenging bosses, all while unraveling a time-traveling mystery.

Both *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* and *Digimon Story: Time Stranger* recently launched, bringing their long-running competition back into the spotlight. Initially, critics favored *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, but now the games are rated equally. However, players actually prefer *Time Stranger*, giving it a higher user score than *Z-A*.

Players gave *Time Stranger* a 9.4 out of 10, making it the second-highest rated game of the year, only behind *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*. *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, however, received a user score of just 3.7, placing it among the lowest-rated new games this year. On OpenCritic, *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* has a slightly higher average score (81) than *Time Stranger* (80), but the user scores clearly show a significant difference in how players are enjoying the two games.

It’s important to note that *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* just came out, so the very low user scores on Metacritic are likely not from people who’ve actually finished the game. It appears the game is being “review bombed” – flooded with extremely negative reviews – for various reasons.

Many negative reviews for *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* focus on its graphics, a lawsuit involving *Palworld*, and a feeling that the *Pokemon* series isn’t innovating enough. Some of the criticism also comes from fans of the *Digimon* series, who suggest playing *Time Stranger* instead. Regardless of the reason, *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* currently has a user score of 3.7, while *Time Stranger* boasts a much higher 9.4. This means *Time Stranger* is significantly outperforming *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* in terms of user ratings.
