One Piece: Oda Officially Reveals The Secret Behind Shanks’s Birth

As a huge *One Piece* fan, I think we all agree that Shanks is a seriously important character – one of the best Eiichiro Oda has ever created! He showed up way back at the beginning of the story, but honestly, he hasn’t really had a big, direct impact on things… *until now*. It’s become super clear that Oda’s been holding Shanks back, saving him for the epic conclusion – the Final Saga – and it looks like that time is finally here! I’m so excited to see what he does!

With the story entering its final arc, it makes sense that we’re learning more about Shanks’s past. Chapter 1158 of *One Piece* finally gave fans a detailed look at his origins and his connection to Garling Figarland. We also learned that Shanks’s mother was a red-haired woman who was present at God Valley, which resolves many long-standing questions about his family.

Chapter 1158 of One Piece primarily set the stage for the events at God Valley, while also giving fans a significant look at Shanks. We learned that before the God Valley Incident, Garling Figarland was sent to a specific island on a mission. Although the island was filled with treasure, that wasn’t the reason it became the focus of the Native Hunting Games. Garling Figarland actually discovered something incredible there, and this discovery was what ultimately led Imu to create the Native Hunting Games.

They’re named Shanks and Shamrock! — Shanks and Shamrock’s Mother

Oda also shared that Garling met a red-haired woman in God Valley around the same time. Interestingly, Shanks and Shamrock were already born there 39 years ago, and they both had the same red-haired mother – a normal human. While she isn’t Garling’s wife, she is the mother of these children and seems to love both Shanks and Shamrock very much. Sadly, she doesn’t know they will soon be taken away from her.

Thirty-eight years ago, during a major event called the God Valley Incident, Shanks and his twin brother, Shamrock, became separated. Their mother likely died during this event. Shamrock was then raised by Garling Figarland, while Shanks was taken in by the legendary Roger Pirates. After years of speculation, the author, Oda, has now revealed the story of Shanks’s birth. This confirms that Shanks is only half-Celestial Dragon, which explains why the Celestial Dragons react with such disdain towards him.

We also haven’t fully learned about his relationship with Shamrock. There are still many unanswered questions about Shanks, and fans are eagerly anticipating how his story will unfold in the future.

The upcoming chapters of *One Piece*, particularly those detailing the God Valley Incident and what follows, will share more about Shanks’s past. Fans can also look forward to seeing exciting moments featuring him, including his fights with Mihawk and his battle against Loki. All of these storylines will converge in the next few chapters.
