Boruto: Naruto Uzumaki’s Return Date Has Already Been Confirmed By The Author

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

The anime *Boruto: Two Blue Vortex* remains popular, consistently delivering thrilling battles each month. The series recently finished an arc that revealed more about the Shinju and showcased exciting new power-ups for the characters. Importantly, *Boruto: Two Blue Vortex* also provided key details about the upcoming return of Naruto Uzumaki.

Both Ikemoto and Kishimoto understand how important Naruto Uzumaki is to the story, and while he’s occasionally referenced, a full return doesn’t seem likely anytime soon. Officially, there’s no confirmed date for his comeback. However, Kishimoto and Ikemoto have hinted to fans that we shouldn’t expect to see Naruto back for at least three years. While this might be disappointing, that seems to be the direction the story is taking.

Naruto Uzumaki Will Return After Boruto Vs Kawaki Battle

Naruto Remains Sealed For Now

  • Kawaki Implies Naruto is still sealed away
  • Boruto will have to beat Kawaki

Recently in Boruto, Jura made it clear that his main target is Naruto Uzumaki. This suggests that consuming Naruto is incredibly important to him. Jura knows Naruto is still alive and will actively pursue him. However, Kawaki is now aware that Jura has crucial information about Naruto’s whereabouts.

From what I’ve seen, Kawaki is now even more determined to protect Naruto. Looking ahead to the fight between Kawaki and Boruto, it’s pretty obvious Kawaki still has control over Naruto and continues to keep him sealed away.

Kawaki has revealed his plan to send Boruto to the same location where he previously held Naruto. This is a critical development because it confirms that Jura won’t reach Naruto and will likely die trying. Consequently, Naruto won’t be rescued before Kawaki and Boruto’s fight takes place.

Naruto Won’t Be Back For A Few Years

Fans Should Look At A 2028 Return Date At The Earliest

Currently, it doesn’t look like Kawaki and Boruto will fight each other anytime soon. It seems the story will focus on dealing with the Shinju first, and then likely move on to the events involving Akebi.

The fight between Kawaki and Boruto won’t happen until after a significant amount of story development, and Naruto’s official return won’t come until *after* that battle. With three Shinju still posing a threat, it will likely take at least 15 chapters to resolve that storyline, and another 10-15 chapters to build up to the Kawaki vs. Boruto fight. Considering the battle itself will take a few chapters, it’s estimated that Naruto Uzumaki won’t be back for at least three years.

The next chapter of *Boruto: Two Blue Vortex*, chapter 27, will be released on October 19, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
