A remake of Resident Evil 0 is in the works, according to a new report.
The Resident Evil series has been a leading name in horror gaming since 1996, and fans have a lot to anticipate with its 30th anniversary next year and the upcoming release of Resident Evil Requiem in February. While many were excited about Requiem, there’s also been strong demand for a remake similar to the successful Resident Evil 4. Recent rumors hinted at a potential remake, and now a reliable source has revealed details about it – and even more exciting news.
Resident Evil 0 Report Details Plot Changes, Release, and Casting
According to a new report from mp1st, a site known for accurate game leaks, a remake of Resident Evil 0 is in development, currently codenamed ‘Chamber.’ The remake is expected to release around 2028. The report also supports previous claims by DuskGolem that a Resident Evil Code Veronica remake is planned for release in the first quarter of 2027.
The article also shares some new information about the story and who’s been cast. Jon McLaren, known for playing Star-Lord in the 2021 *Guardians of the Galaxy* game, will reportedly play Billy Coen, one of the main characters. He currently has a project listed as “Project Chamber.” If this is accurate, it seems likely that, like previous remakes, the original cast members won’t be returning.
The remake appears to be altering the game’s story. While the article contains spoilers, the main change is that a character who had a minor role in the original Resident Evil 0 will be much more important this time around. A completely new storyline is also being added, though details about what that means for the game haven’t been released yet.
Don’t believe the rumors about a Resident Evil 0 remake just yet, but this one seems more credible than previous ones, given how often it’s been discussed. A video celebrating the Resident Evil franchise is coming out on October 29th, coinciding with pre-orders for a new game, and that’s when we might finally hear about remakes of both Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica – though that’s not confirmed. Either way, now is a great time to brush up on your Resident Evil knowledge!
