How to Find & Catch Budew in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Okay, so Budew is a Grass-type Pokemon, and it’s kinda tricky to find. It’s out all day, but only spawns in a few specific spots around Lumiose City. It’s a bit of a scaredy-cat and runs away as soon as it sees you, so you gotta be quick! I’ve had the most luck finding them in Wild Zone 2, which unlocks after you finish the fifth main story mission. It’s super easy to spot where they hang out – it’s right near the entrance to the Zone, and there’s this other trainer kneeling behind some bushes, also trying to catch one. Keep an eye out for him, and you’ll probably find a Budew nearby!

Players looking to catch Budew – or even a Shiny Budew – should check the rooftops around Wild Area 2, specifically in the Vert District. You’ll find Budew hanging out on terraces with flower pots, along with other Pokémon like Vivillon, Pidgey, and the rare Cleffa. These rooftops offer plenty of hiding spots, making it a good place to search.

Pokemon evolution in Legends Z-A is much different than in past games. Now, players have direct control over when and how their Pokemon evolve – you no longer need an Everstone to prevent evolution.

How to Evolve Budew in Pokemon Legends Z-A

In Pokemon Legends Z-A, you can evolve Budew into Roselia by becoming best friends with it and leveling it up during the daytime. If you’ve met these conditions, an evolution icon will show up next to Budew’s picture in the game’s menu.

To become best friends with Budew in the game, keep it in your active party and visit any Café. Order 3 or 4 teas – Roserade Tea works best – while Budew is with you. Once Budew’s friendship is full, level it up once during the daytime through battles, catching Pokémon, breaking Mega Crystals, or using XP/Rare Candy. Any of these methods will work!

After Budew evolves into Roselia, players can use a Shine Stone – purchased at the Stone Emporium – to evolve it further into Roserade. While Roserade is a Grass-type Pokémon, it’s not considered a top-tier combatant. Its stats and available moves aren’t particularly strong, and being a single Grass-type leaves it vulnerable. Many Pokémon can easily defeat Roserade, including Beedrill and Pidgeot (especially their Mega Evolutions), as well as Fire-type Mega Evolutions like Mega Charizard X/Y, Mega Camerupt, and Mega Pyroar, which can often knock it out in one hit.
