Several sources suggest that a remake of *Resident Evil 0* could be released in 2028. Capcom has been successfully remaking many of the older *Resident Evil* games, and *Resident Evil 0* is now looking like a likely candidate for the next remake.
First launched in 2002 for the GameCube, *Resident Evil 0* tells the story that happens before the original *Resident Evil*. The game features two playable characters – Rebecca Chambers, a law enforcement officer, and Billy Coen, a convict – and players can switch between them. While *Resident Evil 0* has been re-released on the Wii and with updated graphics, Capcom hasn’t officially announced the remake that fans have been hoping for.
Multiple Sources Claim Resident Evil 0 Will Be Out in 2028
Although Capcom hasn’t officially announced it, several sources suggest a remake of *Resident Evil 0* is planned for 2028. According to Dusk Golem, the remake of *Code: Veronica* is expected in early 2027, followed by *RE0* in 2028, and a brand new *Resident Evil* game in 2029. MP1ST has confirmed these reports, stating that the *Resident Evil 0* remake, codenamed “Chamber,” has been in development for a few years. They also claim Jon McLaren, known for his role as Star-Lord in *Guardians of the Galaxy 2*, will be involved – likely as Billy Coen – and that Beyond Capture Studios is leading the project.
The latest rumors about Resident Evil line up with previous leaks. Back in January, a source known as Dusk Golem mentioned remakes of both Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica were in development. However, it seems the release order has changed – Resident Evil Zero is now expected in 2028, while Code: Veronica is slated for 2027.

Gamers will soon be able to play *Resident Evil Requiem* before the remakes are released. It’s scheduled to come out on February 27, 2026, and will bring the series back to the original setting of Raccoon City, much to the excitement of fans.

Capcom has officially announced that the next Resident Evil game will star Grace Ashcroft and emphasize horror more than some recent titles. While rumors suggest Leon S. Kennedy might also appear in *Resident Evil Requiem*, this hasn’t been confirmed, so fans should view it as unconfirmed speculation for now.
