Although Electronic Arts (EA) and DICE haven’t officially announced a release date for the rumored Battle Royale mode in Battlefield 6, speculation is growing. A reliable source has recently shared details about the planned modes for the game’s first season. While the official season roadmap doesn’t mention the Battle Royale, previous reports suggest it could launch on October 28th, coinciding with the start of Season 1.
Following months of speculation, EA officially unveiled the Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 6 in September. They started testing it with players through Battlefield Labs, giving a select group early access. EA believes this mode offers a chance to bring classic Battlefield elements – like team-based gameplay, destructible environments, and vehicle warfare – to the Battle Royale format, creating intense and exciting matches.
Battlefield 6 Leaker Reveals Battle Royale Game Modes
Although EA has given us a sneak peek, the release date for the Battle Royale mode in Battlefield 6 hasn’t been officially announced. Rumors point to an October 28th launch with the game’s Season 1 update. Now, reliable leaker Shaun Weber – who previously correctly predicted the cancellation of XDefiant – has revealed the modes that will be available at launch. According to Weber’s latest Twitter post, Battle Royale will include the classic Solo, Duo, Trio, and Squad options, plus a free-to-play mode called Gauntlet. This mode will pit squads against each other in a series of missions, with the lowest-performing team eliminated after each round until only one remains.
Weber also stated that the Battle Royale mode in the next Battlefield game will include proximity chat, letting players talk to each other using voice when they’re close by. This information was supported by a leak from ModernWarzone, who seemingly confirmed the rumored release date of October 28th with a simple confirmation.

While the exact release date is still unknown, EA has shared details about how their new Battlefield game will be different from other Battle Royale titles. A key feature is a particularly dangerous storm circle – the studio calls it the “deadliest ring in Battle Royale” – that instantly eliminates players who touch it. Unlike games like Call of Duty: Warzone or Fortnite, players won’t be able to strategically use the storm to their advantage, as it will mean immediate defeat.
The first season for Battlefield 6 starts on October 28th. While a Battle Royale mode isn’t currently planned, players can look forward to a new map, game mode, weapons, and vehicles arriving next week. Two more updates are scheduled for November 18th and December 9th, adding even more content to the game this season.
