Mega Evolution is central to the experience in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and players will likely need to collect a lot of Mega Shards to fully utilize it. These shards are used to buy Mega Stones from Quasartico, and you’ll need quite a few to get all of them. So, learning the most effective way to farm Mega Shards in Pokemon Legends: Z-A will help you gather them quickly and efficiently.
Okay, so getting Mega Shards is pretty simple – you just need to hit those big Mega Crystal clusters all over Lumiose City with any attack move. Basically, you lock onto a group, send out a Pokémon, and smash them for a few shards. But wandering around the city looking for them can take a while, and there is a way to make the whole process way faster than just running around.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Best Mega Shard Farming Method is Surprisingly Efficient
Collecting all the Mega Stones in Pokemon Legends: Z-A requires 7,980 Mega Shards if you buy them all from Quasartico. Luckily, you can also get some Mega Stones by spending Poke Dollars at the Stone Emporium or by defeating special, powerful Pokemon that have Mega Evolved. Even so, gathering so many Mega Shards can take a long time, so using an efficient farming method is highly recommended to make the process easier.
There’s a limit of 999 Mega Shards players can carry, meaning they’ll need to visit Quasartico regularly to spend them and make room for more while continuing to collect them.
How to Use Legends: Z-A’s Best Mega Shard Farming Route
- Hotel Z Rooftop
- Around Prism Tower
- Wild Zone 9 Rooftop
- Alley Behind Restaurant Le Yeah
This Mega Shard farming route starts on the roof of Hotel Z – just climb the ladder by the entrance to get up there. Once you’ve collected all the Mega Crystals on the roof, walk around the base of Prism Tower and break all the crystals along its walls. Next, go to the western part of the map, specifically Wild Zone 9 in Lumiose City’s Magenta District, and break the crystals on the rooftops. Finally, head north to Restaurant Le Yeah, which is across from the Quasartico building, and smash all the crystals in the alley behind it. After collecting all the Shards, you can spend them at Quasartico, then return to Hotel Z to start the route again – the crystals should have reappeared by then.
Why This Mega Shard Farm in Pokemon Legends: Z-A is So Effective

This route offers the best places to farm Mega Shards in Pokemon Legends: Z-A because it has the most crystals packed into one area. With the right preparation, players can break these crystals quickly and move on to the next location. While a fast Pokemon with quick attacks is helpful, any Pokemon can be used.

Lucario is a great partner for this farming route because its quick attacks, like Bullet Punch and Extreme Speed, can quickly break the crystals. You could also use a Pokémon with strong ranged attacks. This lets you hit crystals higher up on buildings without getting too close, which saves time. Greninja, using moves like Water Shuriken, Water Pulse, and Swift, is a good example of this strategy.
To get the most Mega Shards, players need the highest-level Pink Canari Plush. You can buy it from Racine Construction for 16 Colorful Screws.
