Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Wild Zone 17 is full of strong Pokemon to catch, including Skarmory, Pyroar, and Lampent (the pre-evolution of Chandelure). These Pokemon are especially appealing because they’ve all gained new Mega Evolutions in the game, making them great additions to any player’s team.
This guide details where to find every Pokémon in Wild Zone 17, when they appear throughout the day, and offers helpful tips for players. Here’s a complete overview.
Wild Zone 17 unlocks after players have reached Rank C as part of Main Mission 24.

Diggersby Location
- Time: Day/Night
Just outside the southern entrance to Wild Zone 17, you’ll find three large digging spots, much like those in Wild Zone 14. Each spot hides a Pokémon, and Diggersby is very likely to appear.
Chespin Location

- Time: Day/Night
You can find Chespin hiding in the dig holes within the small garden area of southern Wild Zone 17. It doesn’t appear very often, so you might need to restart the zone a few times to make it spawn.
You can get all three starter Pokémon from X and Y – Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie – by completing specific side quests in the game.
Klefki Location

- Time: Day
You can find Klefki on rooftops during the day. To get up there, use the stairs next to the Pyroar statue, which is close to the northwestern gate. There are only two Klefki that appear: one on the lower part of the roof and another one slightly higher up, near the chimneys.
You can switch time of day by resting on the benches inside Wild Zone 17.
Lampent Location

- Time: Night
You can find Lampent appearing on rooftops at night, often in the same spots as Klefki. To reach them, use the ladder close to the northwest entrance. To evolve Lampent, you’ll need a Dusk Stone.
Pyroar Location

- Time: Day/Night
In the northern part of Wild Zone 17, you’ll find a group of female Pyroar near the stone Pyroar statue. Be careful! They’re very aggressive and will attack as a group if they see you. It’s best to use a move like Earthquake or Surf to quickly defeat them all.
All Pyroar are asleep at night, making them non-hostile until you attack them.
Skarmory Location

- Time: Day/Night
Skarmory can be found flying between the Pyroar statue upstairs and the rooftops. It sometimes rests on the ground or on rooftops, so you might need to search to find it, and it doesn’t appear every time.
Once you finish Main Mission 25, you can buy Skarmorite at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange for 240 Mega Shards.
Alpha Pyroar Location

- Time: Day/Night
You can find a male Alpha Pyroar, level 57, with a group of female Pyroar. It fights with the others, and it’s tough to catch unless you defeat the surrounding females first.
After finishing Main Mission 37, you can buy Pyroar’s Mega Stone, Pyroarite, at the Quasartico Mega Shard Exchange.
Alpha Mawile Location

- Time: Day/Night
You can find a level 57 Alpha Mawile on the rooftops, close to the chimneys. It appears near where Klefki spawn, but it’s possible to sneak past it if you’re cautious.
You should already have Mawilite, as it’s earned by finishing Main Mission 21.
