Okay, so PlayStation Plus is dropping some new games just in time for Halloween, which is awesome! As a PS Plus member, I always look forward to the monthly game updates, and this month they’ve really leaned into the spooky season with a bunch of horror titles. It’s a great way to get some scares in!
PlayStation Plus is updated twice each month. The free games for PlayStation Plus Essential members are released on the first Tuesday. Then, around the middle of the month, new games become available for those with the Extra and Premium subscriptions. The October 2025 updates followed this usual schedule, offering subscribers some great horror titles just in time for Halloween.
PlayStation Plus subscribers will get three free games in October 2025: Alan Wake 2, Cocoon, and Goat Simulator 3. Alan Wake 2, a highly praised survival-horror game from Remedy Entertainment, continues the story of the original Alan Wake. It’s known for its stunning visuals, unsettling atmosphere, and plenty of scares. If you enjoy the horror style of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks or Stephen King’s novels, you’ll likely love Alan Wake 2.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members now have some new horror titles to enjoy, and the biggest addition is the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami. Remaking a game widely considered a horror masterpiece was a huge challenge, but the Silent Hill 2 remake has exceeded expectations. It successfully updates the classic gameplay while remaining true to the original, earning widespread acclaim and standing out as one of the best games currently available on PS Plus.
Recently added to the PS Plus Extra tier is a revamped version of Until Dawn. This remake boasts improved graphics and some gameplay adjustments compared to the 2015 release. Though some feel it doesn’t quite live up to the original, it remains a fantastic horror game and one of the best in the genre.

This puzzle game, set in an abandoned toy factory, has become incredibly popular online. With Poppy Playtime and the other recent horror game additions, PS Plus subscribers will have plenty of options for a frightening Halloween.
