Obsidian Entertainment has had a fantastic 2025, kicking things off with the release of Avowed, followed by the Early Access launch of Grounded 2, and most recently, The Outer Worlds 2. This new game is a reactive first-person RPG that builds on everything players loved about the original, making significant improvements across the board.
A major difference in Outer Worlds 2 is its significantly increased length compared to the first game. Completing Outer Worlds 2 will take considerably longer than finishing the original, particularly if you aim to unlock all Achievements and fully complete everything the game has to offer.

How long it takes to finish Outer Worlds 2 really depends on how you play. If you like to explore everything and learn about the game’s story, or if you try to complete absolutely everything, it will take much longer than if you just focus on the main story.
- If you mainline all the main missions and spend as little time completing side content as possible to beat the game, expect to spend anywhere from 20 to 30 hours to beat Outer Worlds 2.
- Because side content makes up such an enormous chunk of the Outer Worlds 2 experience, if you veer off the main story path to pick up a few side quests here and there, but aren’t concerned with 100%-ing the game, expect to spend around 30 to 50 hours to beat Outer Worlds 2.

Okay, so if you’re like me and need to 100% a game, expect to spend a lot of time with Outer Worlds 2. There are 48 Achievements to unlock, and some of them are seriously tough. I’m talking multiple playthroughs, or really tricky in-game stuff – like getting Auntie and the Order to cooperate, or deciding to solo the Archive. It’s gonna be a commitment, but totally worth it if you’re a completionist like me!
If you want to fully complete Outer Worlds 2 and unlock all achievements, you can expect to spend between 50 and 75 hours playing. The exact time will vary depending on your gaming skill and how quickly you can find all the necessary locations.
