As a seasoned Overwatch 2 gamer with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that the game’s roster is nothing short of impressive. However, there’s always room for improvement, and the upcoming Support hero, Juno, might just be the catalyst for that change.


In essence, Overwatch 2 offers a wide variety of characters to choose from. At present, there are 41 playable characters within Overwatch 2, each with its own unique appearance and skill set designed for different roles. Although some of these characters may not be as popular in competitive gaming, the majority of Overwatch 2’s diverse roster is well-received by fans. The introduction of new characters on a regular basis helps to maintain player interest in the game.

In late August, the multiplayer game Overwatch 2 is planning to introduce its next Support character, Juno. After a short test period featuring Juno, fans have mixed opinions about her worthiness. Although Juno doesn’t have self-healing abilities or any protection mechanisms, her exceptional mobility makes her an enjoyable healer to play with. This high level of mobility might necessitate Blizzard reevaluating one of their most contentious hero categories.

These swift flyers inflict substantial damage, making them hard to defeat, particularly when they have a dedicated healer nearby. A popular tactic for neutralizing airborne adversaries is switching to a character who employs hit-scan projectiles, but this approach may fail if the opposing team has characters that thwart such tactics.

As an ardent Overwatch 2 fan, I can’t help but notice that the flying heroes, such as Pharah, Echo, and Mercy, seem to fall short in terms of control. Despite being classified as flyers, they don’t spend much time actually soaring through the skies. Instead, they propel themselves upward only to glide back down gradually. The frustration sets in when we have to wait for their abilities to recharge, which makes the flight mechanics feel rather confining and limits our aerial maneuvers.

In the game Overwatch 2, Juno stands out as a unique change among its airborne characters. Unlike Pharah and Echo, Juno’s air boost propels her horizontally rather than vertically, limiting her flight to a straight path. Despite this, Juno retains a double-jump ability as a passive trait, which keeps her relatively close to the ground compared to Pharah and Echo. This proximity to the ground makes Juno less challenging to handle, while still allowing for a good degree of mobility freedom. However, even with this development, Overwatch 2’s flying characters are yet to match the sophistication displayed by those in Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals Shows Overwatch 2 How to Do Flying Heroes Right

While Marvel Rivals draws heavily from elements in Overwatch 2, it excels in certain areas, notably flight mechanics. Characters like Iron Man and Storm maintain a persistent flight state within Marvel Rivals. Players can seamlessly move up or down without restrictions on ascent and descent periods. This unrestricted movement offers players tactical freedom during gameplay, resulting in exhilarating moments where strategic positioning is crucial.

To counterbalance things, Marvel Rivals deliberately slows down its flying characters compared to others in the roster. This makes it simpler for all other heroes to hit and defeat aerial opponents. Moreover, every hero possesses at least one ability that can attack flying foes. Characters like Black Panther and Magik, who are primarily melee fighters, even have potent ranged attacks. It’s this equilibrium that Overwatch 2 is working towards achieving.
