This article contains spoilers for One Piece‘s Final Saga.
Fans of One Piece know the story is now in its final arc, and the focus is on characters the author, Oda, has been building up for this very moment. Characters like Red-Haired Shanks, the Navy’s strongest fighters, the Revolutionary Army, and the World Government are all taking center stage, which is what makes this part of the story so exciting.
Imu is definitely one of the most crucial characters in the Final Saga, and many fans believe they’re the most important. While everyone is focused on Imu, it’s possible Eiichiro Oda has already introduced their son.
Imu Is From The Nerona Family

 - They Rule As The Sovereign Of The World

Fans of One Piece understand that Imu is the world’s true ruler. They live in Marijoa, in a place called the Room of Flowers. Imu often sits on the Empty Throne in the Throne Room, which demonstrates their power and position as the world’s sovereign.
Allow Mu to show thee the dominance of a God! — Saint Imu Nerona In Elbaf
When Sabo encountered Imu, he understood the situation and believed it was crucial for Dragon to know. After hearing Sabo’s report, Dragon and Ivankov recognized a name from the Void Century that sounded familiar: Saint Imu Nerona. This name suggests Imu belongs to the Nerona Family, and like other Celestial Dragons, is ultimately just a human being. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume Imu could have a child, like many other members of the Celestial Dragon lineage.
Mihawk Could Be Imu’s Son
Mihawk Is The Son Of The Devil
There’s a strong possibility that Dracule Mihawk is Imu’s son, largely due to a striking visual similarity: both characters have uniquely patterned, ringed eyes. While many One Piece characters display this eye pattern when angry, only three consistently have it – Imu, Mihawk, and Zunesha. The reason Eiichiro Oda chose these specific characters to share this trait remains a mystery, but the connection established by the shared eye pattern is significant.
I saw Dracule Mihawk once say something that stuck with me. He was showing off his swords, and when asked about using something smaller, he replied, ‘I don’t hunt rabbits with a cannonball.’ Then, holding up what was already an incredibly sharp blade, he added, ‘This is the smallest blade I have.’ It really highlighted just how skilled and powerful he is.
As a huge One Piece fan, I’ve been digging into the Mihawk clues, and it’s amazing! Did you notice his full name is Dracule Mihawk? “Dracula” actually means “son of the Devil,” which seemed like a random detail for a long time. But with Oda revealing Imu’s incredible powers in the Elbaf arc – seriously, Imu is the Devil! – it all clicks. Imu can literally turn people into devils using some seriously dark power. It’s like Oda was dropping hints all along!
Mihawk And Imu Have A Connection
Mihawk clearly lives a luxurious life, suggesting he grew up with wealth and privilege. It’s likely he first encountered Shanks in Marijoa, which leads many to believe he was once a Celestial Dragon who later developed a dislike for the Marines.
I’m looking forward to the next One Piece chapter, 1165, which comes out next week! It typically releases on Sundays, but the timing means most of us outside of Japan will be able to read it on November 9th. That’s the official release date for international fans. And good news – it’s free to read on Manga Plus!
