Okay, so Skarmory is seriously one of the coolest Steel-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and everyone wants one! But getting one early isn’t super easy. You actually have to play quite a bit of the story first – you won’t be able to find them until after Mission 23. Once you start Mission 24, a new area called Wild Zone 17 opens up, and that’s where Skarmory starts showing up. It’s a bit of a wait, but totally worth it!
Skarmory also appears in Wild Zone 20, but you’ll need to finish the main game before you can find it. Because there aren’t many spawn points in that area, it might take a while for one to appear.
How to Catch Skarmory in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Get Rid of the Lions
Catching Skarmory in Wild Zone 17 isn’t difficult because it’s rare, but because the northern part of the area is crowded with other Pokémon, including Alpha Pyroar.
Before you try to catch a Skarmory, keep a couple of things in mind. It appears in the northern part of the area at any time of day or night. Because it often flies around, be sure to look up! You might also find it on the rooftop accessible by the ladder in the northwest corner.
If you’re having trouble finding a strong Water-type Pokémon with a move like Surf, we suggest entering Wild Zone 17 through the northwest entrance. You can quickly travel to Cafe Cyclone to refresh the Pokémon appearing in the zone, then head to the bridge to enter and check for Skarmory without disturbing the Pyroar.
You can climb up the area to reach the rooftops for a better view. It’s also possible to throw a Poke Ball at Skarmory while it’s flying, and if you defeat it in the air, it will stay temporarily stunned up there.
If you’re trying to catch a Skarmory at night, a Dusk Ball is a great choice. You can also significantly increase your chances by using a Quick Ball right at the start of the encounter, before the Pokémon notices you. Finally, collecting and upgrading Canari Dolls with Colorful Screws will also improve your catching success.
How to Get Skarmorite in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Time to Megaaaa
After completing main mission 25, you can purchase a Skarmorite at Quasartico’s Mega Shard Exchange to Mega Evolve Skarmory. It costs 240 Mega Shards.
After you obtain the stone, give it to your Skarmory to hold. During battle, when you’ve built up enough energy, press the right stick to use that energy and evolve Skarmory. Importantly, Mega Skarmory remains a Steel and Flying type Pokémon.
