It looks like PlayStation might soon let you buy a game once and play it on both PS5 and PC. Evidence found within PlayStation Store data suggests they’re testing a ‘cross-buy’ feature, which would allow players who own both platforms to get the same game on both without having to purchase it twice. While PlayStation hasn’t officially announced anything, this discovery indicates it could happen in the near future.
Xbox and PC gamers have long been able to purchase a game once and play it on both platforms. Now, a recent report suggests PC players may soon gain even more benefits from this system.
We Could Be Getting PS5 & PC Cross-Buy

The discovery of new symbols hidden within the PlayStation Store’s files was first reported on November 4th. The information originally surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) thanks to user Amethxst.
They said:
We’re adding new symbols to the website and tool soon! But first, here are some cool PlayStation features – some you may already know, and others that are brand new: an “echo mode,” the ability to play games on both PS5 and PC, and “Cross-Buy” functionality.
The message also showed the symbols, what they look like, and it all seemed very real.

The announcement was bold and self-assured, but many people were hesitant about its accuracy. Fortunately, the trusted website Dealabs decided to investigate, specifically looking into when the new symbols were added to see if they were actually older than claimed.
Billbil-kun discovered that you can add special characters to the “About” section of your PlayStation Network profile, and they confirmed these symbols display correctly.
More evidence was found on top of this:
Even before these symbols appeared, we found hints in the PlayStation Store’s data. Specifically, we noticed code within the site’s CSS files that included the phrase “crossbuy-tag,” suggesting a feature related to cross-buying games.
We successfully recreated the CSS style for text, and it looks identical to the symbol you see in console outputs. You can see the result in the image below, and even try it out yourself using our CodePen template.
