Battlefield 6 Double XP Event is Playing Favorites

Good news for Battlefield 6 players on PlayStation 5! You can now earn Career XP at double the rate, helping you level up your characters faster. This Double XP event is currently exclusive to PlayStation 5 users.

Thanks to a marketing partnership between Battlefield 6 and PlayStation, players on Sony consoles have received several perks. Recently, PlayStation 5 users received free in-game items that were available for purchase on other platforms. They also got an exclusive skin for the beta version of the game, and those with the Battlefield PRO battle pass received five extra tier skips simply for playing on PlayStation. This latest reward has caused some controversy, in part because it wasn’t clearly communicated to players.

PlayStation Plus members earn 5% more experience points when they play with a group of two or more other PlayStation Plus members.

Battlefield 6’s PlayStation Favoritism is Frustrating Gamers

Electronic Arts, PlayStation, or Battlefield Studios haven’t officially announced the current Double XP event. Players on PlayStation noticed it unexpectedly when they logged in, while PC and Xbox players did not receive any notification. This suggests the Double XP boost is currently only available on PlayStation. It’s unclear how long the event will last or if it will eventually expand to other platforms. However, PlayStation Plus members were informed they’d receive “extended access to Double XP events,” and it appears this means they’ll get a head start – beginning Double XP weekends on Thursdays instead of Fridays. If the event does come to Xbox and PC, it could potentially start on November 7.

It’s no surprise that the decision regarding Battlefield 6 is upsetting many players. Beyond the lack of clear communication, players are annoyed by the idea of platform-exclusive content in 2025, especially since PlayStation’s timed Call of Duty content was always transparent. While a single day of Double XP is a milder form of exclusivity compared to past deals – like Xbox getting CoD Zombies maps a month early in the early 2010s – it adds to the other advantages PlayStation receives, leaving PC and Xbox players feeling excluded. PC players, in particular, are disappointed, considering Battlefield‘s history on the platform.

This new, controversial decision follows a pattern of choices that have upset players, like the challenge-based battle pass in BF6, which led to negative reviews. While there’s a temporary boost to Career XP, it won’t speed up battle pass progression, as Double Battle Pass XP isn’t available right now.
