A player in Battlefield 6 had a surprising experience while trying to get back into a battle royale match – they were taken out by a well-aimed strike from a drone. The latest Battlefield game from EA and Battlefield Studios has been incredibly popular, attracting millions of players. It only took three days after launch for Battlefield 6 to sell 7 million copies, making it the biggest release in the series’ twenty-plus year history. One of the game’s new modes is proving to be particularly popular with fans.
With battle royale games becoming incredibly popular, it was expected that Battlefield would also offer one. Battlefield 6 quickly added Battlefield: RedSec, a free-to-play battle royale mode, even for players who didn’t purchase the full game. The new mode was so popular that Battlefield 6 had login queues exceeding 50,000 players after its release on October 28th. Now, a Battlefield player is sharing a surprising kill they achieved within the battle royale mode.
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Redeploy Sees Unexpected Kill
A Reddit user named Aromatic_Bag7061 shared a clip of their unusual death in a Battlefield 6 battle royale match. The video shows the player attempting to redeploy after being downed, but before they can even reach the ground, a drone unexpectedly crashes into them, instantly deploying their parachute and eliminating them. Surprisingly, Battlefield 6 credited the kill to another player in the game.
A bizarre kill in Battlefield 6 sparked a lot of funny reactions from players and fans online. Many joked about how ridiculous it was that a UAV – normally used for radar and gathering information – managed to take down a player mid-air. Some playfully accused the UAV of “spawncamping,” while others lightheartedly called it a “skill issue” for the player who was hit by the jet. The kill was especially surprising because UAVs aren’t meant to directly engage in combat in Battlefield 6.
While Battlefield 6 is off to a strong start, it will soon face increased competition. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is launching next week from developers Treyarch and Raven Software, published by Activision, and a new shooter called ARC Raiders is already attracting players away from Battlefield. To broaden its appeal and maintain its success, Battlefield 6 is introducing a new battle royale mode.
