Escape From Tarkov Director Comments on Possibility of Steam Review Bombing

Nikita Buyanov, the director of Escape From Tarkov, has addressed concerns about potential negative reviews when the game releases on Steam. With the Steam launch scheduled for November 15th, Buyanov says he and the team are ready for any player feedback, positive or negative.

Escape From Tarkov has been available in early access since 2017, so the developers are well aware of how players react to changes. The game has often been criticized for cheaters, and its attempts to achieve perfect balance through frequent updates haven’t always been successful. Recently, players were unhappy to learn they’d have to purchase the game again on Steam even if they already owned it, and this frustration could lead to negative reviews when the game officially launches on that platform.

Escape From Tarkov Director Says of Steam Reviews: ‘Let Them Bomb Us’

In an interview with PCGamesN, Escape From Tarkov game director Nikitia Buyanov stated he’s not concerned about potential negative reviews, or ‘review bombing,’ when the game launches on Steam. He explained that the team’s focus is simply on releasing the game and providing players with long-awaited end-game content, marking a significant milestone for Tarkov. Buyanov acknowledged that a small portion of the game’s dedicated player base dislikes the game, and if they choose to leave negative reviews, that’s their prerogative. He trusts Steam’s systems to handle the situation and is willing to see what happens.

The developers are working hard to make sure the 1.0 launch on Steam goes well and avoids negative feedback. Battlestate Games has also announced they’ve developed new methods to deal with cheaters in Escape From Tarkov, which could significantly improve the game if successful.

Honestly, if people want to leave negative reviews just to try and hurt the game, let them. Steam’s pretty good at handling that kind of thing, so I’m not too worried about it.

Battlestate Games is planning to bring Escape From Tarkov to consoles, but they haven’t announced when it will be released. With ARC Raiders recently launched and the full release of Escape From Tarkov 1.0 almost here, it’s an exciting time for fans of games where you try to extract items. Hopefully, this increased competition will help Escape From Tarkov continue to improve in 2026.
