Dark Deity 2 is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, breaking its previous exclusivity on the Nintendo Switch. This means the strategy RPG can now be found on six different digital stores.
I first jumped into Dark Deity back in June 2021 when it came out on PC. Then, in March 2022, it landed on the Switch, and honestly, it’s been a Switch exclusive ever since – they never brought it to any other consoles. The sequel followed a similar pattern: PC release in March 2025, then the Switch eShop six months later. But unlike the first game, the sequel’s time as a Switch exclusive didn’t last long – only a little over two months, actually!
Dark Deity 2 Reaches PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S
The strategy RPG Dark Deity 2 launched on November 7th for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, published by indie.io. Both the PlayStation and Xbox versions cost $24.99, the same price as the PC and Switch versions. PlayStation Plus members can get the game for a limited-time discount, paying only $19.99 (20% off) until December 5th at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 6pm CET. Xbox Series X/S players also received a 20% discount at launch, available through November 20th with no additional requirements.
Dark Deity 2 Is Likely to Appeal to Classic Fire Emblem Fans
Dark Deity 2 takes place 25 years after the first game, which was successfully funded by fans on Kickstarter in 2020, raising over $74,000 from nearly 2,400 backers – more than six times its original goal. Like the first game, Dark Deity 2 is a tactical RPG inspired by the Fire Emblem series, with turn-based combat, a variety of characters to recruit, and plenty of ways to build your ideal team. It’s set in a fantasy world with a dramatic story, and features 20 playable heroes, 45 different classes to specialize in, and a classic pixel art style.
The sequel to Dark Deity features full voice acting, including a performance by Allegra Clark, known for voicing Mitsuru in the popular Persona 3 Reload. The game is designed for multiple playthroughs, offering deep customization options inspired by fan-made randomizers. Players can adjust things like how quickly they earn experience and gold, the order units are recruited, and various combat settings to create a unique experience each time.

The release of Dark Deity 2 on Xbox and PlayStation might suggest the first game could follow, but its developers, Sword & Axe and indie.io, haven’t confirmed anything yet. They’ve previously stated that Dark Deity 2 is a complete story on its own and doesn’t require players to have experienced the original.
