This article contains spoilers from Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece.
One Piece is the best-selling manga of all time, and it’s unlikely any other series will ever surpass its sales. For the past 28 years, it’s been a cornerstone of Shonen Jump, with Eiichiro Oda consistently working on this incredibly long-running series. Because of the immense dedication and time Oda has put into One Piece, his health has recently become a concern.
Being the author of a hugely popular series like Jump is incredibly stressful, and Eiichiro Oda needs more time to rest. Because of this, the release of One Piece chapter 1166, originally scheduled for November 16th, has been delayed. It will now be released on November 23rd instead.
One Piece Chapter 1166 Has Been Delayed From November 16 To November 23
October was a difficult month for the creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, and fans of the series. The manga had an unexpected pause due to Oda’s health, adding to previously planned breaks. While fans didn’t receive much new content, Oda quickly recovered. Now, with his first scheduled break starting, fans are hoping November will bring more regular releases.
A short break is coming for the popular manga One Piece. Chapter 1166, originally planned for release on November 16th, will now be released on November 23rd. This delay isn’t unexpected, as the author recently released three chapters consecutively, and a one-week break after every three chapters has become typical for the series. While it’s unlikely there will be further breaks in November, any additional delays will be announced. Based on the current schedule, the next break is expected to happen at the beginning of December.
Oda’s Health Issues Are The Main Reason For One Piece‘s Breaks
Starting in 2022, the number of times One Piece takes a break from releasing new chapters has gone up significantly. Before the Wano storyline, breaks were rare, happening maybe once a month. Now, fans can expect a break after about every three chapters. This change has led to a lot of questions, and while some breaks are due to things like Japanese holidays, the main reason is Eiichiro Oda’s health. Like many manga artists, Oda faces a lot of pressure and works incredibly long hours.
Creating One Piece for nearly three decades is incredibly demanding and takes a real physical toll on Eiichiro Oda. With weekly deadlines and a constant need for new content, breaks are essential for his health and well-being, and fans should definitely understand that. As Oda gets older, his job becomes even more challenging, so fans understandably hope he stays healthy so he can continue working on the manga, and recognize how important these breaks are for him.
One Piece will have a break next week, and a new chapter (Chapter 1166) will be released on November 23, 2025. Fans can read it for free on Manga Plus.
