Marvel is gearing up to revive the character of Daredevil. The studio has several projects that they believe fans will continually crave for. Among these, the Daredevil reboot could be the most significant. Many fans would argue that the Marvel Netflix era, or at least this part of it, was the franchise’s finest work ever. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a far different state than it was in 2015. To preserve elements from the original series, its grandeur and ambition might be the most crucial.
The concept of levels of superhero scale is a bit strange. Most of the most popular heroes on various rosters move up and down the scale. Spider-Man is a quintessentially street-level hero who frequently takes on all-consuming threats. Superman could move a planet, but some of his best stories see him stopping bank robberies or preventing plane crashes. Popularity can ensure that a character gets to play at every level. Some, however, are more tied to their setting than others. Daredevil and his city are bonded at a deeper level.

Both Hell’s Kitchen and the MCU could greatly benefit from a figure like Matt Murdock.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe needs a hero who saves people again
Daredevil is a gritty series where numerous characters meet untimely, tragic ends. The lives led by these characters are often brief and filled with sorrow. Each fight sequence results in heavy casualties for the combatants. Matt doesn’t always emerge victorious, but when he does, it’s usually after enduring an impressive amount of physical pain. Daredevil is a type of hero who isn’t shy about spilling his own blood to save others. What makes him unique among Marvel heroes is that he often places himself directly in harm’s way to save individuals. It’s uncommon nowadays for superheroes to go the extra mile to rescue people.
In my perspective as an ardent fan, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man stands out by devoting a significant portion of the movie to rescuing people from fires, stopping street crimes, and averting traffic accidents. Unlike many current Marvel superheroes who primarily save lives incidentally while defeating villains, the MCU seldom highlights direct heroic interventions to protect innocents. The saving grace in Iron Man 3 comes to mind, where Tony Stark skillfully parachutes multiple people to avert a fatal plane crash. Matt Murdock may not rescue as many overall, but his approach feels uniquely impactful when he’s interacting directly with those in need. He needs to preserve this tradition and uphold it in Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil can bring back street-level heroes
Initially, Daredevil paved the way for the creation of the Defenders universe, featuring shows like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, each impressive in their individual right. However, Iron Fist seemed to bring down the quality a bit. Following the model of the Avengers, they individually introduced each hero before culminating in a team-up series. Although it didn’t quite live up to its potential as a whole, many parts were exceptionally well-done. If Daredevil: Born Again aims to build on what Daredevil accomplished, it might also correct the mistakes made earlier. The Defenders universe wasn’t flawless, but it was intriguing enough to be noteworthy. With a new season of Daredevil, there’s potential for introducing more street-level heroes and adding excitement to the Marvel Universe.
It’s great that they’re venturing into space and dealing with multiple dimensions, but Marvel seems to be finding a constant stream of ideas simply by doing so, often rehashing old material. The upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again” series should serve as a refreshing change from this endless exploration and tiresome repetition. It’s crucial that the show retains its grandeur and scope. Daredevil is deeply connected to Hell’s Kitchen, much like it’s connected to him.
