This article contains spoilers for all 8 episodes of Dispatch.
The growing success of Dispatch is reminiscent of the peak of Telltale Games, as developer AdHoc has crafted a truly excellent story-driven game where your choices matter. Now that the first season of eight episodes is finished, players are eager for a second season. Because Dispatch has multiple endings depending on your decisions, a second season could establish one official ending as the definitive storyline.
While a second season of Dispatch isn’t officially happening yet, the studio behind it, AdHoc Studio, has hinted it’s possible. Aaron Paul, who voices a character in the game, has also expressed interest in continuing the story. With the game selling much better than expected, things are looking good for another season. The biggest question now is where the story will go, as the creators will need to choose one of the multiple endings from the first season as a starting point.
Dispatch Season 2 Will Have to Decide On a Canon Ending
In the game Dispatch, the choices you make will determine how the story ends. Even small decisions in conversations can have big, unexpected consequences and lead to very different outcomes. For instance, if you want Invisigal to have a good ending, you need to consistently trust her – even a single instance of distrust can change everything, so think carefully about every option.
All Possible Dispatch Endings
- Mentor Endings
- Sorry, Kid — Invisigal becomes a hero, Shroud is spared, Z-Team is united
- Didn’t See that Coming — Invisigal kills Shroud, becomes a villain
- Romance Endings
- Blonde Blazer
- Invisigal (requires Sorry, Kid ending)
- It’s Complicated (Romance Both)
- No Romance
- Shroud Endings
- Robert kills Shroud
- Robert spares Shroud, sends him to jail
The finale of Dispatch in Episode 8 revolves around three key choices: will Invisigal end up as a hero or villain, who will Robert fall in love with, and will Robert kill or spare Shroud? Some of these choices have flexibility, but others are linked—for example, a romantic ending with Invisigal requires her to be a hero. Considering all the possible combinations, deciding which ending to use as the basis for a second season feels incredibly difficult.
The Ideal Canon Dispatch Ending May Not Be the Most Popular
Although some players, particularly those who developed a romantic relationship with Invisigal, might disagree, the most compelling ending for a potential second season of Dispatch is the one where she fully embraces her villainous side – “Didn’t See that Coming.” Since Shroud is defeated regardless of the ending, the Z-Team needs a new major threat. With Invisigal already leaning towards antagonism and poised to take control of the Red Ring after eliminating Shroud, a second season could naturally explore a storyline focused on her potential redemption.
Even if Season 2 of Dispatch wraps up with the most satisfying outcome – Visi remaining a hero and Shroud avoiding punishment – there’s still potential for new problems for the Z-Team. Maybe Shroud will break out of prison, or the complicated relationship between Robert, Blonde Blazer, and Invisigal could create new storylines, even impacting Mecha Man. Because Dispatch relies on player choices, creating a definitive ending is difficult. So, a future season will likely need to establish a solid conclusion to the first season, which feels like a challenging task.
