GameStop is holding a unique event on December 6th called ‘Trade Anything’ Day. As the name suggests, you can trade in practically anything for store credit – but only on that day. While there are a few restrictions (like no radioactive waste or alcohol), most items are fair game, even taxidermied animals!
There are still a few complications, and it’s unclear how valuable these items will actually be, but this is definitely a daring move to attract shoppers to GameStop locations nationwide.
GameStop ‘Trade Anything’ Day Coming Soon
GameStop is trying something unusual this December 6th for its “Trade Anything Day.” Customers can bring in almost any item to the store and potentially receive store credit for it.
While most items probably won’t be valuable, and there are definitely some conditions to keep in mind, this event is sure to be fun and bring customers into the store.
GameStop employees make the final decision on whether they’ll accept an item for trade, and stores have a specific container size limit to prevent people from trying to trade in unusually large items like refrigerators.
Here’s the full list of things that you can not trade to GameStop during Trade Anything Day:
We don’t accept hazardous materials, chemicals, or lithium ion batteries. This also includes weapons, ammunition, and live or dead animals (though taxidermied items are okay). We cannot accept alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or any pharmaceuticals. Computers are generally not accepted for trade, with the exception of certain MacBook models GameStop usually takes. Computer accessories under 100 pounds – like monitors, keyboards, mice, and most external hard drives – are also not accepted, along with printers, scanners, and similar devices. Small electronics such as music players, DVD players, and projectors are prohibited. Small servers, televisions, gift cards, currency, jewelry, sexually explicit items, and anything resembling body parts are also not allowed.
It’s a pretty long list, and it includes some unexpected items that you’d expect to be allowed, such as computers, accessories, and other small electronics.
‘Items resembling body parts’ are also banned from trading, which is understandable.
