This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.
The world of Naruto has evolved significantly in Boruto, and even more so in the recent Two Blue Vortex manga, as shown by the creators over time. Despite these changes, the fundamental principles of being a ninja remain constant. The current world is a result of the efforts of powerful, historical ninjas, and among the most legendary was Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, who was nearly unmatched in his era.
I’m a huge fan of Minato, and honestly, his talent was just unbelievable! He became Hokage at such a young age and was easily one of the strongest ninjas ever. He basically single-handedly ended the Third Great Ninja War – he was a true hero to the village and to all of us fans. We’ll probably never see anyone quite like him again. But you know, Boruto is starting to show real promise, and he’s definitely being set up as Minato’s true successor. I don’t think Boruto will ever reach Minato’s level as a character, but he’s the closest we’ve gotten since Minato passed away. And as most of us know, this incredible shinobi is none other than Boruto Uzumaki, the son of the Seventh Hokage and the main character of the series!
Boruto Uzumaki Is The True Successor Of The Fourth Hokage
The Fourth Hokage was a famously powerful ninja, highly respected throughout the ninja world. His skill was unmatched, and many believe it’s nearly impossible to reach his level. However, Boruto Uzumaki appears to be on that path. Like his father, Boruto quickly mastered the Rasengan – a technique originally created by Minato Namikaze – and at a very young age. What’s even more impressive, Boruto has already developed his own unique versions of the Rasengan, like the Rasegan Uzuhiko, something Minato himself would likely be proud to see.

And that’s not the only connection to the past. Boruto Uzumaki learned and adapted a famous technique originally used by Minato, creating his own version of the Flying Thunder God Jutsu – though it’s not quite as powerful.
Boruto Learned A Variant Of The Flying Thunder God
Boruto’s ability isn’t quite the Flying Thunder God technique, but it’s a simpler version that works in a similar way. He puts his chakra into different metals and pictures what they look like. Once he’s connected to the chakra, he can instantly teleport to that metal. Because it doesn’t use a traditional teleportation seal, it’s not as powerful or fast, but it’s still a remarkable skill.

Just Like Minato, Boruto Is A Genius
What truly sets Boruto Uzumaki up to follow in his father’s footsteps as Hokage is their shared gift for natural talent. Minato Namikaze was exceptionally gifted, excelling at everything from the ninja academy to inventing new techniques and instantly adapting to any situation. Boruto is proving to be much the same – he’s quickly mastering different elemental powers, becoming skilled with a sword, creating his own unique abilities, and now even learning techniques directly from his father.
Boruto is an incredibly gifted ninja with the potential to become even stronger. He’s arguably the most talented ninja in his generation, and has already proven himself worthy of being considered the successor to his father, Minato. Fans anticipate he’ll continue to develop and live up to that legacy for a long time.
The next chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, chapter 28, will be released on November 20, 2025, at 10 AM Eastern Time / 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
