Hytale Early Access ‘Coming Soon,’ And Shows Off 16 Minutes Of Minecraft-Like Gameplay

Hytale, a game that was previously put on hold, is now actively being developed again. A new, detailed trailer has been released, giving fans a better look at the game and announcing that an early access version will be available soon.

Riot Games initially closed Hypixel Studios in June 2025, stopping development on the promising game Hytale. Hytale, built on the popular Hypixel Minecraft server, seemed to be canceled, but the project was unexpectedly revived in November 2025. A new gameplay trailer has now been released to demonstrate the game’s return.

Hytale Is Back In Development With Early Access Promised

Hytale is back! Hypixel Studios, led by its founder Simon Collins-Laflamme, has reacquired the game. A new trailer, ‘Breaking the Curse,’ features 16 minutes of gameplay showcasing its detailed, pixelated world.

This game features classic sword and shield battles, fluid movement during combat, a vast world to explore, resource gathering like chopping trees, and a generally dark and atmospheric setting – everything you’d expect from this type of adventure.

We looked at the video’s description for updates, and were surprised to find that it was running the original game engine from the 2018 trailer, using a four-year-old version of the software. The developers said there’s still a lot of work to do, but that early access to the game is coming soon.

It’s a bit unclear, which is expected given how quickly things are developing, but it suggests Hytale is progressing well.

Founder Simon also added this to the Hytale gameplay video:

I told everyone I’d share videos, screenshots, and blog updates, and I’m delivering on that promise just a day after the acquisition. Now that you’ve finally seen some gameplay, I’m getting back to work on preparing the early access launch. My team will continue to share more footage and images as development progresses. It was important to me to release this unedited footage today to finally put an end to the long wait for updates.
