This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling series.
The popular series Solo Leveling has remained a hit with fans since it began, and they’re all hoping to hear about what’s next. Season 2 ended in early 2025, but since then, there’s been no news about a potential continuation. Typically, popular shows announce their future plans quickly, so the lack of updates from the Solo Leveling team was unusual. While fans have been waiting for news of Season 3, it appears there was a reason for the silence.
Recent news indicates that Season 3 of Solo Leveling won’t be produced as a continuation of the series. Instead, the creators are planning a much larger project – a full-length movie. This decision follows the huge success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which led many anime studios to aim for bigger, more ambitious productions. The Solo Leveling movie is intended to be a truly spectacular cinematic experience.
Solo Leveling Is Now Aiming For Movie Success Like Demon Slayer
The anime Solo Leveling has quickly become a huge success. The first two seasons, created by A-1 Pictures, have been incredibly well-made. In fact, it’s currently Crunchyroll’s top-rated anime and has been named their anime of the year for 2025. Now, it looks like the studio has even bigger plans for the series.

Recent news indicates that Solo Leveling is shifting its focus from another season of the TV show to a feature film. The production committee has announced that instead of a third season, they’re planning a movie release, potentially influenced by the success of Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer is launching a major new project in 2025 – a trilogy of films covering the final part of the story – and Solo Leveling may be following a similar approach.
The first Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza’s Return film was released this summer and quickly became the most successful anime movie ever. This proves anime has reached a mainstream audience, and studios are now focusing on adapting core story arcs into films to attract viewers, rather than creating standalone, non-canon stories. The team behind Solo Leveling recognizes this trend and aims to capitalize on it to achieve even greater success.
Solo Leveling Movie Could Be Released In Late 2026
Details about the Solo Leveling movie are still scarce, but it’s currently aiming for a late 2026 release. Production is in its early stages, so that release date isn’t set in stone and could be delayed. Still, fans have a promising Solo Leveling adaptation to anticipate, and if it’s well-made, the movie has the potential to be a huge success, building on the popularity of the original series.

Solo Leveling Might Not Get An Anime Season Anymore
If the new Solo Leveling project turns out to be a movie and does well, the studio might make a second movie to finish the story, which could mean there won’t be an anime series. However, they could also release the movies as anime episodes later, similar to what happened with Demon Slayer.
You can currently watch all 25 episodes of Solo Leveling on Crunchyroll. If you’re looking for even more of the story, check out the original Manhwa.
