This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga.
Many fans consider Jujutsu Kaisen to have a very detailed and complex power system, especially compared to other dark anime and manga. However, some find it confusing, with rules that aren’t always easy to understand. Regardless, this complex system is a key part of what makes Jujutsu Kaisen unique and interesting.
In the latest installment of Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Modulo, creator Gege Akutami is building on the existing power system. Fans are familiar with concepts like cursed energy and domain expansions, but Modulo introduces something new: Rolloluca. This alien energy source, similar to cursed energy, can be transformed into any type of energy using a unique ore.
Simurian Aliens Possess Cursed Energy in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
Rolloluca Is an Alien Version of Cursed Energy
- Rolloluca is equivalent to a sorcerer’s cursed energy.
- Rolloluca is the cursed energy of Simurians channeled through their third eyes.
I’m absolutely loving Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo! What really stands out to me is how much the world is expanding. The original JJK was great, but this sequel is really building on everything, introducing us to tons of new characters, completely new types of people, fascinating locations, and even a fresh take on cursed energy. It feels like the story’s gotten so much bigger and more detailed, and I’m really enjoying getting a wider view of everything!
Interestingly, the world of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo includes aliens known as Simurians. All Simurians have a third eye, which is the source of their unique cursed energy, called Rolloluca. This Rolloluca allows them to perform abilities similar to jujutsu sorcerers – everything from attacks to defense and support techniques.
Right now, the Rolloluca – the cursed energy used by these aliens – seems to be more dangerous than what we’ve seen from regular Jujutsu sorcerers. However, that’s just a first impression, and we don’t yet understand the full extent of their abilities. It’s also possible that the current generation of sorcerers in Japan isn’t as strong as those from the past, making the alien’s Rolloluca seem even more powerful by comparison.
Rolloluca Can Be Converted into All Forms of Energy
Simurians Clash Over Valuable Ores Called Mul
Chapter 9 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo introduces Mul, a unique ore found on the planet Simur. This ore is highly sought after by the Rumelians and Deskuntes, as it’s a powerful resource that fuels their conflicts. Mul can transform Rolloluca into any type of energy, allowing clans with significant Mul reserves to drastically increase their cursed energy levels.
The original Jujutsu Kaisen series hinted at using Gojo Satoru’s power to fuel an entire nation, and JJK Modulo now brings that idea to life. The story introduces Mul ores and the illegal trade of powerful Japanese sorcerers, fulfilling long-held fan theories. While this development is exciting, many questions remain about the ethical implications of exploiting sorcerers and the potential repercussions of doing so.
According to family legend, our Jujutsu skills were a gift from the Kalyans – beings sent by the Gods – to our ancestors from Rumelia. – Maru
Currently, the Simurians heavily rely on Mul ore, and the Deskuntes are chasing the Rumelians to seize their large supply hidden on Naunax. If they find where the alien refugees have landed on Earth, humanity could easily get caught up in the fighting. Essentially, war is a very real and immediate threat.
Maru and Cross’ Rolloluca Are Special
The Simurian Twins’ Cursed Energy Has Greater Purity
The Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo arc has given Maru and Cross a chance to really show what they can do. We’ve seen Maru use his third eye, and Cross has demonstrated impressive control over his cursed energy. As twins, they’re clearly very powerful, making them either dangerous enemies or strong allies for Tsurugi and Yuka Okkotsu. The story highlights Maru and Cross’s unique abilities among the Simurians, explaining that their cursed energy becomes exceptionally pure and powerful when amplified – even more so than the Mul ores. Judging by Jabaloma’s reaction, this is a positive thing, implying that their great power should be treated with respect and used carefully.
