A recent report from Insider Gaming suggests that the rumored remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag might be released in March 2026. Talk of a Black Flag remake began in June 2023, when Kotaku reported that Ubisoft had approved the project. Insider Gaming later stated in January 2024 that development on the remake had been underway since September 2023.
In October 2024, Insider Gaming reported that the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows had impacted other Assassin’s Creed games currently in development, supposedly pushing the release of a Black Flag remake from November 2025. While Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed the existence of an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, rumors and leaks about it have been circulating for over two years.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Could Release in March 2026
According to a new report from Insider Gaming’s Grant Taylor-Hill, a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is currently planned for release the week of March 23, 2026. This information surfaced after Ubisoft’s November 2025 earnings report—which was delayed last week—revealed plans for seven game releases before the end of their fiscal year on March 31, 2026. A screenshot from the report details these upcoming titles.
The image highlights recently launched games such as Anno 117: Pax Romana and the Valley of Memory DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, as well as future releases like the Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora ‘From the Ashes’ expansion and The Division Resurgence. Notably, the image includes a placeholder for an unannounced game, and Insider Gaming reports this is likely a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.
If rumors are true and a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is coming in March 2026, we can expect an official announcement soon. While it’s just a guess, the remake might be revealed at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025.
Although a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is highly anticipated after years of speculation, it’s only one of several Assassin’s Creed games currently in the works. Ubisoft is reportedly still developing Assassin’s Creed projects codenamed Hexe, Invictus, and Jade, none of which have been publicly shown since their initial announcement in September 2022.
