Cardano Announces Crucial Date for Chang Hard Fork: Details

As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience in the crypto industry, I must say that the upcoming Chang hard fork for Cardano is a significant step forward not just for this particular project, but for the entire blockchain ecosystem as a whole. Having witnessed numerous hard forks and upgrades throughout my career, I’ve learned to appreciate the meticulous planning and coordination required to make such an event successful.

The Cardano network is preparing for a major achievement as Intersect, an organization within the Cardano community, reveals that the Chang hard fork will occur on September 1, 2024, following a consensus among the hard fork working group.

On Twitter, Intersect announced that the Hard Fork Working Group has come to an agreement and intends to update the mainnet on September 1, 2024. This is a significant milestone for Cardano, moving it closer to self-governance by the community.

The mainnet upgrading, decided upon by the hard fork team, is set for September 1st, 2024! Many thanks to everyone in the ecosystem for their tireless efforts – making #ReadyforChang has been a collaborative community achievement. Let’s gather for a special X Space as we step over the epoch boundary ⬇️!

On Aug. 23, the hard fork Working Group met and agreed to target Sept. 1 for the Chang upgrade.

Originally planned for August 27th, the mainnet hard fork has been rescheduled to September 1st following a discussion with the working group. This delay provides exchanges and dApps additional time to make required modifications, thereby enhancing the readiness of the ecosystem for this major milestone in Cardano’s development process.

Cardano continues to develop and mature

As a crypto investor, I eagerly anticipate the upcoming hard fork on Chang, which will usher in on-chain governance for Cardano. This development brings us one step closer to realizing the ultimate goal of Voltaire’s final roadmap phase – long-term self-sustainability. With this democratic decision-making process led by Cardano’s stakeholders, we are paving the way towards a future where the network will thrive on its own.

In the third quarter of 2023, trials are ongoing for SanchoNet, a network specifically designed as a playground for experimenting and refining procedures and instruments related to Cardano’s on-chain governance. This testnet serves this purpose.

In June, Cardano established various alliances in Argentina, such as with the province of Entre Rios, the University of Buenos Aires, and the National Technological University (UTN). The purpose of these agreements is to enhance educational opportunities about Cardano in the area and explore possibilities for utilizing the network for potential Argentine applications.
