By taking this action, Luffy activated his Devil Fruit. It became clear to viewers that the actual name of the fruit wasn’t just Gomu Gomu no Mi, but Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This particular Devil Fruit holds significant importance to the broader narrative of the story.

Take, for example, his clash with Rob Lucci where he miraculously crafted a pair of goggles out of thin air. But wait, it gets even more astonishing! During his battle against Kizaru, he managed to ingest light and transform into a light bulb. And let’s not forget about his midair running feats, showcased in fights against both Saturn and Kaido. To top it off, Luffy once slapped Kizaru and Saturn simultaneously, turning them into paper-thin pizzas that he could spin on his fingers like toys. All these instances demonstrate that whatever Luffy envisions can become a reality, making the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika downright terrifying.
16 Has Powers That Are Out Of A Comic Strip
One Piece is primarily known for its intense battles, most of which are serious in nature. But when the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is activated, everything changes. With Gear 5, Luffy possesses a unique ability that brings laughter and happiness wherever he goes. According to Dr. Vegapunk’s latest findings, it seems that all Devil Fruits were brought into existence by someone’s deep desire or wish. The abilities granted by these fruits represent what people have yearned for throughout history. In certain instances, a specific individual’s intense longing for something they lacked resulted in the creation of a Devil Fruit through an enigmatic process.
In much the same way as the Nika fruit shares this concept, there was once a desire for a Liberation Warrior, or Nika. Consequently, the Hito Hito No Mi, Model: Nika came to be. This Devil Fruit symbolizes human liberty profoundly, and those who consume it transform into warriors dedicated to the liberation and happiness of others.
12 Can Take Over The Person
Zoan Devil Fruits are fascinating and unique. As mentioned in chapter 1044 of One Piece, these fruits have a mind of their own. This means they significantly influence the person who consumes them by attempting to be eaten by someone whose character or spirit matches theirs most closely. For instance, Luffy, symbolizing freedom, consumed the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, because it resonated with his personality. Similarly, Lucci, a ruthless assassin trained by the World Government, ate the Neko Neko no Mi, model: Leopard, as it reflected his character.
Currently, spectators are aware that the special abilities of these Devil Fruits involve assuming the characteristics of the consumer. Remarkably, characters like Luffy and Lucci possess such a powerful will that they can withstand this transformation and preserve complete autonomy over their physical form and actions.

The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika is a special Devil Fruit in more ways than one. It is believed to have been eaten by someone long ago in the Void Century. After the fall of the Ancient Kingdom, however, this fruit ended up being reincarnated and it started evading the World Government, no matter how hard they tried to get their hands on it. Remarkably, these drums produce a rhythm identical to the one that reverberated during the Straw Hat Pirates’ celebration in Skypiea’s Upper Yard when they partied.
