Steam now offers a helpful feature that alerts you if a game in your shopping cart is cheaper when bought as part of a bundle or collection. This new tool will help Steam users find better deals and save money on games.
Steam is the go-to platform for many PC gamers. Despite competition from other companies, it remains the most popular choice because it’s easy to use, offers lots of ways to personalize the experience, has great features for customers, and frequently offers discounts.
Steam Now Warns You If Games in Your Cart Have Bundle Deals
Steam has added a helpful new feature to save players money. As one Reddit user noticed, the platform now alerts you if an item in your shopping cart is cheaper when bought as part of a bundle or collection. This way, you can avoid overpaying for games!

The game was on sale for $13.99, but the Unrailed Collection Bundle – which includes both Unrailed 2 and the original game – was even cheaper at $13.58. This meant the bundle saved them 41 cents and included an extra game, likely prompting them to report this deal.
Image via Steam Currently, this feature doesn’t notify users when a bundle costs more than buying the games separately. For instance, A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem are available as a bundle for $70, but cost $40 and $50 individually. Although buying the bundle saves $20, Steam doesn’t currently warn users about this potential savings, even if both games are in their cart. Similarly, if someone buys a game that’s part of a larger collection they already own some of, they won’t be suggested to buy the full collection if it ends up costing more overall.
Image via Steam This feature still needs improvement. Right now, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is on sale for $4.99, but the bundle that includes the game and all its extra content (the season pass) is actually cheaper at $4.49. Steam doesn’t point out this price difference, even though you get more for less money with the bundle. It’s not clear why the prices are different, but it’s a good reminder to always double-check your purchase before completing it, even if Steam doesn’t warn you.
Image via Steam Even though it doesn’t happen all the time, Steam’s practice of automatically applying discounts is a positive for players. Despite some recent issues with payment policies and game removals, Steam remains a very customer-friendly platform. It would be great if Steam could improve this feature to make it more consistent and even alert users if the game is included in a bundle or collection where they could save money. The ideal outcome is that users discover a better deal, which would also benefit Steam, while the worst-case scenario is they end up paying full price.
Even though Steam’s Black Friday sale just ended, the Winter Sale is coming soon! It’s expected to start on December 18th and run until January 5th, 2026, offering big discounts on many games. This is a great chance to finish up holiday shopping for gamers, or treat yourself to a game you’ve been wanting.
