Yooka-Replaylee, a revamped version of the classic game, launched digitally on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch back in October. Now, on December 18th, 2025, you can find the physical copy in stores.

You can find physical copies of the game at popular stores like Walmart, Target, Amazon, GameStop, and VGP. They’re available now, making them a great holiday gift for anyone who enjoys platforming and collecting things in games.

Alongside the complete game being available in stores, a demo is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2 for players who are unsure if they want to buy it.

The Journey Of Yooka-Replaylee

If you’re unfamiliar with its history, Yooka-Laylee started as a Kickstarter campaign and was released in 2017. It received a mixed reaction from players. While some enjoyed it, many fans were hoping for something closer to the magic of Banjo-Kazooie, a highly-regarded game from 1998 created by the same team.

Following the positive reception of their spin-off/sequel, Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair in 2019, Playtonic Games decided to revisit the original Yooka-Laylee. I had the chance to speak with the development team in April while testing an early version of the game, and they explained their goal for Yooka-Replaylee.

Playtonic explained they’re committed to incorporating all player feedback from the original 2017 game into a truly definitive version, planned for release in 2025. Because the game is a passion project for them, they believe they owe it to themselves and their fans to refine and improve Yooka-Laylee as much as possible with Yooka-Replaylee.

Yooka-Replaylee has become a real success story this year, especially with its new partnership with PM Studios – a publisher that strongly supports independent games and physical game collecting. I’ve completely finished the game and gave it a fantastic 9.5 out of 10 in my review after playing the digital version on PS5 last October.

I’ve been playing platformer games my whole life, and Yooka-Replaylee is easily the best ‘collect-a-thon’ I’ve played in over ten years. It truly feels like a perfect evolution of classic Nintendo 64 platformers, and I’ve been recommending it to everyone since it came out. Many others in the gaming world feel the same way – it’s a fantastic game worth playing.

Yooka-Replaylee isn’t just a graphical update to the 2017 game. It’s a complete remake, filled with tons of new things to do – new goals, activities, power-ups, and collectibles, plus significantly improved graphics. Even if you loved the original, Yooka-Replaylee offers a fresh experience worth playing through.

The Physical, Retail Release And Switch 2 Demo

The game is now available in stores, following its digital release two months ago. If you’re still unsure about getting it, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can try a free demo on the Nintendo eShop. The good news is that any progress you make in the demo will be saved if you decide to buy the full game!

If you’re still on the fence about buying the Switch 2, trying out the demo is a fantastic way to see what it can do. Like many others, I quickly discovered that Yooka-Replaylee is a must-have 3D platformer, and you’ll definitely want to add it to your game library – either as a physical copy or a digital download.

If you prefer a physical copy, you can now find Yooka-Replaylee at stores like Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Besides the satisfaction of owning a great game, physical copies also include a collectible map poster and character stickers.

Yooka-Laylee is already a fantastic game, and this special edition includes even more fun extras, making it the ideal holiday gift for any video game lover. With an ESRB rating of Everyone 10+, it’s perfect for gamers of all ages who want to experience one of the best 3D platformers available today.
