Boruto: How Boruto Uzumaki Can Surpass The Hokage, Explained

This article contains spoilers from the Boruto series.

Becoming Hokage in the Boruto series is incredibly difficult, even for someone as powerful as Boruto Uzumaki, who many believe already exceeds Naruto and Sasuke. While Boruto has the strength and abilities – thanks to his Otsutsuki powers – to defend Konoha, being Hokage requires more than just defeating strong opponents; it’s about much more than simply holding the position.

Watching Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it’s becoming pretty clear Boruto is on track to become even stronger than the Hokage one day. With Naruto and Sasuke gone, he’s already taking on huge responsibilities for Konoha, protecting the village from both inside and out – all without even being Hokage yet. The main thing holding him back at the moment isn’t his strength, but the fact that Eida’s powers made people lose trust in him.

Boruto Must Master His Otsutsuki Powers

Boruto Can’t Be Considered a Threat

  • Boruto can’t use the full power of Karma without Momoshiki’s approval.
  • Boruto’s Otsutsuki powers are still unstable.

I’ve noticed a big difference between Boruto and Kawaki when it comes to their Otsutsuki powers. While Kawaki can tap into his abilities more freely, Boruto constantly has to worry about Momoshiki taking over. Because of this, he actively avoids using the Karma powers during fights, preferring to rely on his own skills, even when facing opponents much stronger than himself. It’s a real disadvantage for him, because he’s holding back, afraid of losing control, and it definitely impacts his chances of winning.

Boruto believes that as long as Momoshiki lives inside him, he’s a danger to everyone, not just his village. He understands how dangerous and ruthless Momoshiki is, and he’s even prepared to sacrifice himself – whether by Kawaki or Sasuke – to ensure Momoshiki can no longer harm others. The situation could improve if Momoshiki were to change his ways and cooperate, but until then, the threat remains.

Use your Karma powers, and anything else you’ve got! Now go defeat our enemies!—Momoshiki to Boruto

Even though Momoshiki and Boruto recently teamed up, they don’t truly trust each other, as shown in chapter 29 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Boruto is struggling to defeat Jura and the Shinju Clones, and Momoshiki is looking for a way to take advantage of this weakness. If they go through with their agreement, Boruto will be able to fully access the power of Karma, but he’ll lose his independence.

Boruto Must Restore the Uzumaki Household

One of the Best Ways to Regain Trust

  • Boruto lost everything due to Omnipotence.
  • Boruto is Konoha’s enemy.

Boruto is determined to rebuild his family and restore their reputation. This involves rescuing Naruto and Hinata from another dimension, saving his sister Himawari from a tragic fate, and helping Kawaki get back on the right path. He also has to manage the powerful and dangerous forces of Momoshiki and the Karma seal, all while ensuring he doesn’t lose his own identity. Successfully doing all of this will help him regain the trust of the Hidden Leaf Village, including those who wrongly believe he harmed his parents.

Boruto faces a tough battle against Jura and the God Trees while being hunted as a fugitive, and progress won’t be quick. Though things are difficult, he’s determined to protect his sister, Himawari, and their village, and is gathering allies to help. Recently, Inojin, Shikadai, and other young ninjas have joined his fight, adding much-needed strength to his team.

Boruto Must Protect Konoha and the Shinobi World

Boruto Should Become the Ultimate Protector

As fans are aware, the Hokage represents hope for the village. For Boruto to become even stronger and more influential than the Hokage, he needs to become a world-class protector, similar to how Naruto and Sasuke risked everything to defeat powerful enemies like Madara, Obito, and Kaguya during the Fourth Great Shinobi War.

For Boruto, protecting Konoha and the ninja world from threats like Jura, the God Trees, Kawaki, or any of the Otsutsuki clan would be a huge achievement. It won’t be easy, given how powerful his enemies are. However, Boruto has incredible potential, and many believe he could even become stronger than Naruto Uzumaki, one of the greatest Hokage ever.
