Ark 2’s release window has been updated again, and the developers are now targeting 2028.

During a recent investor event, Jeremy Stielglitz, co-founder of Studio Wildcard, announced that Ark 2 is now expected to launch in 2028. This is a shift from previous plans, as the game was initially targeted for a late 2024 release, and then delayed without a new date. Players will now have to wait at least two more years to play the game.

While Ark 2 isn’t due until 2028, players will get a preview of its features sooner. A large update for Ark Survival Ascended, drawing inspiration from the upcoming sequel, is planned for late 2027. Snail Games also announced that Ark Survival Ascended has already sold over 4 million copies.

ARK: Lost Colony To Bring New Features and Story Will be Portrayed through Mappa Anime

The next big update for Ark Survival Ascended, called Ark: Lost Colony, is almost here while fans await the launch of Ark 2. This expansion will add a new story to the game and introduce exciting features, including the ability to add AI-controlled human characters to your tribe. The story will be brought to life with stunning anime scenes created by Mappa, featuring Michelle Yeoh, and realistic cinematics using UE5 Metahumans starring Madeleine Madden, Auli’i Cravalho, and Karl Urban.

ARK: Survival Ascended Roadmap

The team also shared details about upcoming projects before Ark 2 launches in 2028. First, they’ll release Ark: Survival of the Fittest, a competitive spin-off where 60 players fight, eventually leading to battles between dinosaur armies. It’s expected to arrive in early 2026.

Okay, so here’s the deal: in the middle of 2026, we’re getting a big pirate update for the game – it’s called Bob’s True Tales: Tides of Fortune, and it’ll come with a brand new map called ARK Genesis. Then, later in 2026, they’re releasing ARK World Creator. Basically, it’s a major upgrade to the modding tools, aiming to make them way more powerful and user-friendly, kind of like the creative tools you see in Fortnite or Roblox. It sounds like we’ll be able to really build some amazing stuff!

The developers plan to release several major updates for ARK: Survival Ascended over the next two years. Ark Dragontopia is scheduled for late 2026, and Ark Atlantis will follow in early 2027. Later in 2027, players can expect ARK: Bob’s True Tales Galaxy Wars, a space-themed expansion with massive ships and epic battles. Finally, Legacy of Santiago, a prequel story connecting to Ark 2, is planned for late 2027 to test new gameplay features. The developers hinted that these updates are likely not all they have planned.
