Borderlands 4 Shift Code Unlocks Free Vault Hunter Skin for Limited Time

Gearbox is giving away a free item to all Borderlands 4 players through its SHiFT code system. However, players need to claim it before December 31, 2025. Gearbox has been using the SHiFT website since 2012 to reward fans with things like cosmetic items and Golden Keys, which unlock random gear in their games. Recently, they’ve been providing Borderlands 4 players with keys to get new weapons and other in-game items.

Since its release in September, Borderlands 4 has had its share of challenges, but Gearbox continues to add new content through updates and events. Recently, they surprised players by making the first Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack available for free. This pack, titled ‘How Rush Saved Mercenary Day,’ introduces a new holiday-themed quest, new loot, and a new boss called Mister Screw. Gearbox is continuing this spirit of giving by offering free rewards to all players as part of their year-end celebrations.

Borderlands 4 Children of the Vex SHiFT Code

To celebrate 12 Days of Mercenary Day, Gearbox Software is giving away a special Vault Hunter skin to all Borderlands 4 players. The skin, called ‘Children of the Vex,’ can be used by any of the four playable Vault Hunters. It features a purple and red color scheme inspired by the Siren class, and while promotional images only show the Vex skin itself, it’s designed to work with all characters. This SHiFT code can only be used once per account and will expire on December 31st, so be sure to redeem it before then!

A new SHiFT code is available as part of the 12 Days of Mercenary Day event and the first Borderlands 4 giveaway. Like the Children of the Vex skin, players can claim the ECHO-4 skin, “A Winter Borderland,” until December 31st. This skin gives your companion a mostly white look with hints of icy blue. Keep an eye on the official Borderlands accounts – there are still 10 days of rewards to be announced!

How to Redeem Borderlands 4 SHiFT Codes

  1. Visit the SHiFT website and log in to your SHiFT account or create a new one if needed.
  2. Under “Gaming Platforms”, double check that your SHiFT account is linked to your gaming account.
  3. Open the “Rewards” tab.
  4. Now, enter the new SHiFT code underneath the “Code Redemption” header. When prompted, select the platform that you want to redeem the code on, depending on the gaming accounts linked to the SHiFT account.

Gearbox Software often releases special codes, like SHiFT codes, to coincide with in-game events. While the recent Halloween event, Horrors of Kairos, wasn’t exactly what Borderlands fans were hoping for as a preview of a potential Borderlands 4 event, it did include a unique cosmetic reward. Players could redeem a SHiFT code to get ‘Gourd Your Loins,’ a pumpkin-shaped headpiece with a machete sticking out, for their Vault Hunter.

Even though support for Borderlands 4 will likely slow down in 2025 after the release of the Bloomreaper boss in the “Invincible” update, Gearbox has plenty more content planned for 2026. According to a previously released roadmap, Bounty Pack 2 is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2026, bringing new character skins, a vehicle, missions, and a Vault Card with even more unlockable items. However, the biggest highlight for many players will be Story Pack 1, “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.” This is the closest thing to a full expansion players will get for Borderlands 4, adding new story and side quests, gear, and introducing the first new playable character after launch – C4SH.
