Jujutsu Kaisen: Did Yuka Actually Tame Mahoraga in Modulo?

This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

The latest update to Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has unexpectedly brought Mahoraga back into the fight, thanks to Yuka Okkotsu. Fans are shocked by this development, as Mahoraga is Yuka’s powerful last resort against Dabura, intended to protect the world from an ongoing alien invasion. Because only those skilled in the Ten Shadows technique can summon Mahoraga, it’s unclear whether Yuka has managed to control this incredibly difficult shikigami.

Throughout the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, Ryomen Sukuna is the only one who has ever successfully tamed Mahoraga. No other sorcerer, including Megumi Fushiguro, has been able to fully control it – most attempts ended in failure, and often, death. If Yuka Okkotsu manages to tame Mahoraga, she’ll be the first sorcerer from either the Zenin or Okkotsu families to ever accomplish this feat.

Yuka Okkotsu Summons Mahoraga in JJK Modulo

Yuka Okkotsu Is a Ten Shadows Technique User

  • Mahoraga vs. Dabura begins.
  • Yuka Okkotsu can use the Ten Shadows Technique.

Yuka Okkotsu’s arrival is incredibly impactful – like a bomb dropping. She immediately summons Mahoraga, the most difficult shikigami to control from the Ten Shadows Technique, against Dabura. This moment is the biggest surprise in JJK Modulo, as viewers didn’t expect Yuka to use the Ten Shadows Technique, let alone summon Mahoraga.

Before its appearance in the JJK Modulo manga, the incredibly powerful Mahoraga was last seen in the original Jujutsu Kaisen series. Ryomen Sukuna controlled it and used it to fight powerful sorcerers like Yorozu and Gojo Satoru. Mahoraga is a nearly unstoppable force, and defeating it demands immense strength and skill – qualities both Gojo and Sukuna possessed, allowing them to counter its unique ability to adapt to any attack.

The arrival of Mahoraga confirms that Yuka Okkotsu is capable of using the Ten Shadows Technique. It’s currently unknown if Yuka gained this ability through her Zenin family lineage or by copying it, similar to how Yuta Okkotsu replicates cursed techniques. Either way, Yuka’s ability to summon Mahoraga – who appears more powerful than before – indicates a substantial increase in her strength. It’s highly probable that Yuka has made a Binding Vow, as hinted at in chapter 14 of JJK Modulo by Tsurugi.

Based on the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, it seems Yuka Okkotsu hasn’t fully gained control of Mahoraga. She likely summoned Mahoraga simply to bring Dabura into the ritual, hoping this would give her an edge in their fight. This tactic is similar to what Megumi did against Haruta Shigemo in the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen – a risky, almost fatal strategy.

After summoning Mahoraga, Yuka immediately hid in the shadows, likely because she knew the risks of summoning a powerful, untamed shikigami. Mahoraga is known to attack anyone involved in its summoning, so Yuka’s quick thinking to hide ensured the creature focused its attention on Dabura instead of her.

With the current situation, Yuka has no way to control Mahoraga. Although her main goal isn’t to tame it, she needs to avoid its attacks by staying hidden, hoping Dabura can somehow defeat the Divine General. As Dabura and Mahoraga are still evenly matched, Yuka is currently safe.

Yuka Okkotsu Is Dying

Yuka Okkotsu amazed viewers with her powerful Ten Shadows Technique, but she’s been struggling with a serious brain tumor that’s rapidly worsening. Her condition has quickly deteriorated, causing extreme weakness and vision loss, which makes her eventual sacrifice especially heartbreaking. Sadly, doctors haven’t been able to find a cure, so Yuka is determined to make the most of her remaining time, knowing her days are limited.

Yuka’s brother, Tsurugi, has accepted that she doesn’t have much time left and wants her to spend her remaining moments peacefully, rather than fighting Dabura. Unfortunately, it might be too late, as Yuka has already made up her mind to fight, even if it means unleashing the powerful Mahoraga and risking everything.
