Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Kills The Biggest Ship In The Series

Jujutsu Kaisen is a hugely popular manga series worldwide. Although the original manga finished in 2024, the story isn’t over! A sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, continues the narrative 68 years later.

After a long time, the author has officially confirmed several couples, like Yuta and Maki. Gege has also suggested the possibility of others, such as Megumi and Hana. However, he unexpectedly ended the popular pairing of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki, disappointing many fans.

Okay, so it’s pretty clear Nobara and Yuji just weren’t meant to be, right? They definitely didn’t end up together. It actually seems like they grew distant over time. As far as we know, Nobara didn’t find anyone special, and Yuji’s romantic life is still a total mystery!

Gege Shows Yuji and Nobara Never Became A Couple In Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen is primarily a battle-driven series, so romance isn’t a major element. While not a central theme, it’s not entirely missing. The author, Gege, revealed that Yuta and Maki ended up marrying, despite not being a couple during the main story. Their connection was incredibly strong, so much so that Yuta tragically died of heartbreak after Maki’s death.

The recent developments were quite emotional and left many fans eager for Gege to reveal more romantic pairings. Although no new couples have been officially announced, it now seems likely that the popular pairing of Yuji and Nobara will not become canon.

The newest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo featured a return appearance by Nobara. As the search for Yuji goes on, she was questioned about his location. Nobara explained she hasn’t seen him since Hana’s funeral, and interestingly, she addressed him as “Itadori”—using a formal tone—while speaking about Hana by her first name, showing a warmer connection.

It appears Nobara and Yuji have become estranged. Also, if they were still a couple, Yuji wouldn’t have disappeared until after Nobara’s passing.

Nobara Seems To Be Single Even In Her 80s

As of now in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, there hasn’t been any official confirmation about Nobara’s romantic relationships. Based on what viewers have seen, she appears to be living comfortably on her own.

Honestly, this kid just keeps unleashing Black Flash after Black Flash! Is he seriously trying to match my power? I threw everything I had at him – a mix of slashing and brute force – and it didn’t even make him flinch. It’s… intriguing, to say the least.

While it’s plausible Nobara may have married and then lost her spouse to old age, we don’t know for sure. The original JJK story didn’t give Nobara a significant romantic relationship, making her fate after the Shinjuku incident unclear. Other characters, like Yuta and Maki, or those with suggested connections like Megumi and Hana, all had their relationships explored. It’s also possible Nobara’s partner was a minor character who wasn’t heavily featured.

Yuji’s Romantic Life Remains A Mystery In Jujutsu Kaisen

Similar to the mystery surrounding Nobara’s romantic life, fans are also in the dark about Yuji’s. Yuji’s situation is particularly complex because he’s stopped aging. This could be a major reason why he avoids relationships – he likely fears outliving anyone he falls in love with.

Currently, Yuji Itadori possesses two cursed techniques. The Death Paintings, specifically numbers 4 through 9, have marked him with Blood Manipulation. Additionally, his awakened Black Flash ability has unlocked Malevolent Shrine, a fully developed curse originally belonging to Ryomen Sukuna and now imprinted on him.

Gege, the author of Jujutsu Kaisen, hinted at a possible romance for Yuji in a side story. This story strongly suggested a connection between Yuji and a character named Ozawa, and it’s plausible they became a couple and even had a family. If that happened, Ozawa would likely have passed away by now, which could explain why Yuji disappeared.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 14 will be released on December 7, 2025.
