5 New Switch 2 Games Confirmed for January 2026

In January 2026, five major games are expected to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2, primarily due to support from third-party developers. While many developers stopped making games for Nintendo during the Wii U era, they returned with the original Switch and have continued to support the console. The Switch 2 is already benefiting from this strong relationship, with several high-quality game ports already available thanks to Nintendo’s partners.

The Switch 2 had a fantastic 2025, and Nintendo is hoping to continue that success in the coming year. Support from game developers will be crucial, and here are five games Switch 2 owners – and those planning to buy one – should watch out for.

Nintendo is launching several popular games on its consoles in January. On January 15th, the hit game Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be available on the new Nintendo Switch 2. Then, on January 20th, players can enjoy Mio: Memories in Orbit, a Metroidvania adventure. January 22nd brings Dynasty Warriors: Origins and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. Finally, on January 28th, Adhoc Studio will release the well-received story-driven game Dispatch on both the original Switch and the new Switch 2.

This isn’t a complete list of every game launching on the Switch 2 in January 2026, but it highlights the biggest and most exciting titles.

Upcoming Switch 2 Games for January 2026

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – January 15
  • Mio: Memories in Orbit – January 20
  • Dynasty Warriors: Origins – January 22
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade – January 22
  • Dispatch – January 28

The release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is exciting for all players, whether they’re new to the Switch 2 or already own the game on the original Switch. It launches alongside a major update (version 3.0) that brings new items themed around other Nintendo games and LEGO, a new place to visit, and several improvements to make gameplay smoother. While the game doesn’t have a lot of features specifically designed for the Switch 2, it will take advantage of the new Joy-Con 2’s mouse controls and allow up to 12 players to enjoy the game together on one island.

While much of the attention in January will likely be on the Switch 2 launch of New Horizons, don’t overlook Mio: Memories in Orbit. This visually appealing sci-fi Metroidvania is one of the few completely original games coming to the Switch 2 that month, making it a particularly noteworthy title.

Okay, so it looks like there’s a bit of space between when Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Mio: Memories in Orbit come out, which is good. But January 22nd is gonna be packed. Two huge third-party games are dropping on the same day! As a Dynasty Warriors fan, I’m hyped to see Dynasty Warriors: Origins hitting the Switch 2 – it’s a fresh take on the musou action after I’ve finished Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. But get this – it’s launching on the same day as Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade! That’s awesome news for RPG fans, and it sounds like the Switch 2 version is staying pretty true to how it looks on other consoles.

Switch 2 is ending the month with a great new release: Dispatch. This episodic adventure game is similar to the popular Telltale games, but features much better animation and overall quality. In Dispatch, you play as Robert Robertson, tasked with managing and sending a team of former supervillains on assignments. It’s a funny, touching, and exciting game that’s sure to be a highlight for Switch 2 owners when it arrives on January 28th.
