Upcoming Xbox Game Gets Update on Development Progress

Director Dinga Bakaba shared the current development status, and while some fans are glad to hear something new, others feel the comment was a standard, uninformative response.

The studio behind popular games like Dishonored and Deathloop, Arkane Lyon, is currently working on Marvel’s Blade. Details are scarce, but we know it will be a single-player, third-person game set in Paris, starring the vampire superhero Blade. Many first encountered Blade in the 1998 film starring Wesley Snipes. That movie trilogy is often credited with paving the way for the surge in comic book films we’ve seen over the past twenty years, and the original Blade is still considered a classic superhero action movie and a standout in the vampire genre. Marvel’s Blade Director Confirms the Game is Still in Active Development

He said the team is working super hard on it, really going all out to make something special that we, as fans, will love. He did ask us to be patient though, which is understandable. He mentioned they’ve set really high standards for themselves and are determined to deliver a game that lives up to our expectations. Honestly, even though the response wasn’t super detailed, most of the replies were really positive, with fans thanking Arkane and encouraging them to take all the time they need. It’s cool to know they’re putting so much effort into it – especially since we found out back in July that the budget is a massive $109 million! That shows they’re serious about making this a truly amazing Blade game.

As of now, there’s no information about when or on what platforms the game Marvel’s Blade will be released. Recent financial reports from 2024 indicate that full development only began late that year. This means fans will likely need to be patient, as the game is still quite a ways off. While we don’t know if there will be any news from the developers, Arkane, or Bill Bakaba in 2026, many are hoping for a new look at the game during a future Xbox Showcase or Developer Direct event.

Fans were excited by the recent update from Bakaba, as it was one of the first pieces of official news in months. After more than a year of layoffs at Microsoft in both gaming and technology, players are relieved to hear that Marvel’s Blade hasn’t been canceled and is still being actively developed.
