This article contains spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex series.
In the Naruto series, the Five Kage are the leaders of the five major ninja villages. They famously joined forces during the Fourth Great Ninja War to fight against Madara Uchiha. This team – consisting of Tsunade, A (the Raikage), Onoki, Mei Terumi, and Gaara – presented a tremendous amount of power, though they ultimately weren’t able to defeat Madara.
The Five Kage have always represented incredible power, and in the world of Boruto, they’ve become even more formidable, successfully maintaining peace. But a new ninja has emerged who is powerful enough to surpass them all. This ninja is Boruto Uzumaki, particularly after unlocking the full potential of his Karma ability.
The Five Kage Are The Pinnacle of Strength In The Ninja World
- The Gokage Are The Strongest Of The Ninjas In The World
- They Fight To Preserve World Peace
In the world of Naruto, the Five Kage represent the peak of ninja power – each one is typically the strongest in their village. They famously fought against Madara Uchiha, and while they were ultimately defeated, they pushed him to his limits. Without the use of Edo Tensei, Madara likely would have lost; he was significantly weakened at the time, lacking the full power of both his Rinnegan, and the Kage proved to be incredibly powerful opponents.
Light always comes with darkness, and success always means someone else has failed. The pursuit of peace, when driven by self-interest, often leads to conflict. And even love can grow from hatred. – Madara Uchiha, Naruto
During the Boruto storyline, the Five Kage proved their strength in the fight against Momoshiki. They initially held the advantage, successfully battling Kinshiki before Momoshiki gained more power. Naruto’s participation was crucial to their efforts. Despite the challenges, the Five Kage continued to represent peace and stability during this new era.
The Five Kage will remain a powerful symbol of peace and protection for the ninja world, even in the years to come. However, throughout history, there have always been individual ninja with the potential to surpass them all.
I remember during the Fourth Great Ninja War, Madara Uchiha was clearly more powerful than all five Kage. Then, Might Guy stepped up and exceeded their abilities, and of course, Naruto and Sasuke eventually became even stronger. It’s interesting to see how things have changed in the Boruto series. For a while, the Kage were incredibly strong because Naruto was among them, but the current generation of Kage doesn’t seem to be on the same level.
Boruto Uzumaki Is Now Stronger Than The Five Kage
- Boruto Has Gained Control Over Karma
- His Byakugan Has Also Awakened
Currently, the Five Kage consist of Shikamaru Nara, Darui, Kurotsuchi, Chojuro, and Gaara. While each of these shinobi are incredibly powerful, they aren’t quite as strong without Naruto’s presence. In fact, several ninjas could now defeat them, including Boruto Uzumaki. After training during the time skip, Boruto has become exceptionally strong—powerful enough to surpass the combined strength of all five Kage.
During the timeskip, Boruto trained with Sasuke and mastered many Uchiha techniques. He later encountered Kashin Koji, who unlocked potential within him, allowing Boruto to develop skills across different timelines and become the strongest version of himself.
During his fight with Code, fans got a taste of Boruto’s increased strength, and it was obvious he’d become significantly more powerful – even surpassing typical Otsutsuki members. Now, Boruto Uzumaki has also unlocked the power of the Karma.
I could sense his desperation. He didn’t seem to care about the future, just ending things and escaping this world. It was clear he only saw a reason to keep going if he could be free. He explained these ‘divine beings’ were a danger to both of us, and then he asked me point-blank: would I help him, or wouldn’t I? It was Boruto, speaking to Momoshiki, and the weight of his question hung in the air.
Boruto made a bargain with Momoshiki, sacrificing his body to gain immense power. This power is so great that he could defeat the Five Kage with ease, barely exerting himself – a clear sign of just how strong he’s become.
Boruto Uzumaki is incredibly powerful, possessing techniques like Rasengan: Uzuhiko that could instantly defeat any of the Five Kage. He’s also highly versatile thanks to the Flying Thunder God technique, and his Karma ability both cancels out enemy attacks and dramatically increases his strength. With the recent awakening of his Byakugan, Boruto has become an overwhelmingly strong opponent, making a victory against him nearly impossible for the Kage right now.
Boruto Will Get Even Stronger In The Future
© 2002 MASASHI KISHIMOTO / 2017 BORUTO What’s truly frightening is that Boruto Uzumaki hasn’t reached his peak yet. He’s still developing and has the potential to become much stronger. Currently, he’s only utilizing the initial stage of his Karma. As he progresses and unlocks Karma Stage 2, he’ll be able to unleash the complete power of Momoshiki and merge it with his own abilities.
If Boruto continues on his current path, he’s likely to become even more powerful than Isshiki Otsutsuki, potentially reaching a level comparable to Naruto’s Baryon Mode. While it’s possible he’ll gain even more abilities, that depends on the direction the author, Ikemoto, chooses for the story. The series isn’t known for consistent power levels, but it’s safe to say Boruto will continue to get stronger.
Whether or not fans enjoy Boruto’s power scaling is debatable, and opinions are definitely mixed. Ultimately, though, this is how the series was designed, and fans will likely need to come to terms with that.
The once-powerful figures, like the Five Kage, aren’t as important to the story anymore. Boruto Uzumaki has already proven he’s stronger than them, and others—including Kawaki, Sarada, and even Himawari—have the potential to reach that same level of power.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is the continuation of the Boruto series, created by Mikio Ikemoto and overseen by Masashi Kishimoto. It picks up three years after the events of the Omnipotence arc and follows Boruto Uzumaki as he strives to protect the world while navigating his relationship with his brother, Kawaki. Chapter 30 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will be released on January 20, 2026, at 10 AM EST / 3 PM UTC. Fans can read it for free on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
