Say Goodbye To One Piece In December 2025

As 2025 approaches, One Piece fans will have to wait for new episodes of their favorite anime. The One Piece anime will be taking a break starting this December, right after the Egghead Arc finishes.

The One Piece anime will finish its current run on December 28th and won’t be back on screens until April 2026. When it does return, the series will immediately begin the highly anticipated Elbaf arc. Early 2026 might be difficult for fans, as the One Piece manga will also be taking several breaks.

The One Piece Anime is Going On Break In December 2025

  • One Piece Anime Goes Seasonal
  • One Piece Manga Will Go On Multiple Breaks

The One Piece anime took a six-month break between late 2024 and early 2025. Initially, fans believed this was a one-time pause, but it now seems like these breaks will happen regularly.

The One Piece anime is about to go on another long break. Episode 1155, titled “The Promised Horizon At Long Last, Towards The Long Awaited Elbaf!,” will be the final episode of 2025 and the last one before the hiatus begins.

What is this incredible power? I feel unstoppable! This is my absolute limit… This is Gear 5! — Luffy, from One Piece chapter 1044

Episode 1155 of One Piece will premiere on December 28th. This episode will finish the story arc on Egghead Island and send the Straw Hat Pirates on their way to Elbaf.

The One Piece Anime Won’t Return Until April 2026

Fans of One Piece are facing a significant wait! The anime will be on hiatus starting at the end of December, and won’t return until April 5, 2026 – a break of about three months. Excitement is building for the upcoming Elbaf arc, and a first look at a trailer was recently shown at Jump Festa. Although the trailer is still rough, it promises an amazing adventure for viewers.

One Piece Anime Will Regularly Go On Long Breaks in The Future

As a huge One Piece fan, I have to share some news that’s a bit of a downer. It’s now confirmed that starting in 2026, Toei Animation is going to be releasing One Piece episodes at a much slower pace – only 26 a year! And it’s not like we’ll get them all at once, either. We’re going to have to get used to longer waits between seasons, unfortunately.

I’m really excited to share that instead of one long season, the new episodes are going to be released in two parts, each with 13 episodes! We’ll get one part, then a three-month break, and then the second part. That means fans are already predicting another pause in July 2026 after the first batch of episodes finishes.

Longtime fans—those who’ve watched the anime every week for over 20 years—are going to find this change difficult. It’s frustrating because the extended breaks don’t seem to be leading to any improvements in animation quality. Toei has only committed to adapting one chapter of the manga per episode, which is similar to their current pace with the Egghead arc.

Rocks, I won’t let you go after my crew! — Roger to Rocks after Domi Reversi

Although it’s unfortunate, these breaks are necessary to ensure the team can continue creating consistently high-quality episodes. With more and more popular anime series raising the bar for animation quality, this is a crucial step for the company. Fans might not like it at first, but it’s something they’ll likely have to accept in the future.

I’ve been following Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece for a long time, and it’s amazing to see the journey of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the legendary treasure, the One Piece. It’s incredible, but it’s also coming to an end! The anime and manga are now in what’s called the Final Saga, and the very last episode will be released this weekend, on December 28, 2025. If you want to watch it, Crunchyroll is the place to go. And for those who prefer reading, you can find the manga on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps – supporting the author that way is really important.
