This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo began as a continuation of the popular manga, Jujutsu Kaisen. Set in the same universe, Modulo jumps forward in time. The story unfolds 68 years after the fight with Sukuna, and in that time, the world and its political landscape have changed significantly.
This latest installment focuses on the Okkotsu family. The story centers around Yuka and Tsurugi, the grandchildren of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin. As Yuta’s family became part of the Gojo Clan at the end of the previous series, the Gojo legacy continues through them.
The first volume of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has unveiled new details about a certain family. We now meet Yuta and Maki’s child, Iori Okkotsu, the newest member of the Gojo Clan. Interestingly, Iori disappeared sixteen years ago, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance are just being revealed.
Okkotsu Iori Is The Newest Gojo Clan Member
- He Is The Father of Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu
- The Only Child of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo dramatically advanced its timeline, jumping ahead 68 years to a period facing an alien invasion from Simuria.
The story and background details for JJK Modulo are really interesting, and the author, Gege Akutami, recently shared some big updates about the characters. Fans already knew that Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin get married after the battle with Sukuna, and that they eventually have grandchildren – meaning they had at least one child. Gege Akutami has now revealed who that child is.
Many fans initially thought Yuka and Tsurugi’s mother might be the child of Yuta and Maki, but that wasn’t the case. It was revealed that Yuta and Maki actually had one son, Iori Okkotsu, and he was their only child.
Iori Okkotsu is still largely unknown in Jujutsu Kaisen, but fans are aware he’s now part of the Gojo Clan. This happened after Yuta Okkotsu inherited leadership of the clan following Gojo Satoru’s death.
Iori Okkotsu Disappeared 16 Years Ago
Fans were thrilled to learn more about the Okkotsu family, and finally discovering the name of Yuta and Maki’s son was a significant development for the story’s background.
Fans have been curious about the whereabouts of Yuka and Tsurugi’s father, particularly since the children have been solely responsible for protecting Japan from the alien attack.
Gege has confirmed that Iori Okkotsu left his family 16 years prior to the current timeline, specifically in the year 2070. Interestingly, this is the same year Iori’s sister, Yuka Okkotsu, was born.
Earthling Sorcerers have a desperate, final option when facing death: a Binding Vow. Yuka has been searching for a cause worthy of such a sacrifice. Realizing she was likely to die regardless, she decided to risk everything for the sake of another. — Tsurugi, speaking about Yuka Okkotsu
Yuka Okkotsu never had the chance to meet her father. Only Tsurugi knew him, and even then, not for very long. The disappearance of Yuka’s father, Iori Okkotsu, remains a significant mystery. Because he vanished shortly after Yuka was born, many suspect a connection between his disappearance and her.
For years before he disappeared, it’s unclear if Iori Okkotsu actually became the head of the Gojo Clan. While he was supposed to inherit the position from his father, Yuta Okkotsu, he disappeared before that could happen. Furthermore, he didn’t receive the inherited spirit, Rika; instead, it went directly to Yuka Okkotsu.
Iori Okkotsu Is A Mysterious Man
Gege recently introduced Iori Okkotsu, but details about him are still limited. Fans have learned a few things, though, thanks to a timeline chart about his background.
Iori Okkotsu was born in 2031, when Yuta Okkotsu was 30 and Maki was 29. Later, in 2069, he marries Mifuyu, the same woman seen in flashbacks with Yuka and Tsurugi. As of now, her current location is unknown.
In 2069, Iori Okkotsu and Mifuyu welcomed their son, Tsurugi. The following year, in 2070, they had a daughter named Yuka.
Will Iori Okkotsu Return In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?
After Gege Akutami revealed Yuka and Tsurugi’s father and mentioned his disappearance, fans have been speculating about whether he’ll reappear in the story.
Currently, it’s unknown whether Gege Akutami intends to revive this character in the Modulo manga. This seems unlikely, as Modulo is a short series nearing its end, with the climactic fights already underway.
It was a long time ago—either during the Edo period or maybe the Keicho era, I can’t quite remember. But the heads of the Gojo and Zenin families fought each other, publicly, before anyone else could intervene. Back then, the Gojo family was led by someone with the Six Eyes and a Limitless Cursed Technique, just like me, and the Zenin family was led by a Ten Shadows technique user, similar to you, Megumi. Do you understand what I’m getting at?
Iori Okkotsu doesn’t have much time to develop as a significant character, but the reason for his departure remains a compelling mystery. Fans are hoping for some explanation regarding his disappearance, even if it’s just a brief mention.
Honestly, everyone’s been buzzing with theories about what happened to him! Some people think it has to do with issues he was having with his parents, Yuta and Maki, while others are convinced it’s connected to Yuka and her incredible power – she was born with the Zenin clan’s ultimate technique, Ten Shadows, which is just mind-blowing! It’s all speculation right now, but it’s so exciting trying to figure it out.
There’s also a chance he didn’t disappear willingly. Kidnapping is a possibility, especially considering he was next in line to lead the Gojo Clan after Yuta Okkotsu. That position could have made him a target.
The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, is currently being published in Weekly Shonen Jump. Taking place 68 years after the Shinjuku Showdown, the story follows Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki. Chapter 17 is scheduled to come out on January 4, 2026, at midnight in Japan (11:00 AM Eastern Time, 8:00 AM Pacific Time). Readers can access the chapter for free on Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app.
