Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2 Could Be Getting Two Iconic Star Wars Games

There’s a good chance both Star Wars Jedi games from Respawn Entertainment will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. A recent leak indicates Nintendo’s new console could get these popular Star Wars titles, allowing more players to enjoy them – and get ready for the next game in the series.

The two Star Wars Jedi games have been critically acclaimed. Fallen Order (2019) earned an average score of 82 on OpenCritic, and Survivor (2023) improved on that success with a score of 84. Both games follow Cal Kestis, a Jedi who survived the infamous Order 66 and is now on the run from the powerful Galactic Empire. They combine exciting action-adventure gameplay with challenging combat inspired by the ‘Souls-like’ genre, making them both unique titles. However, the games truly shine during lightsaber battles. While Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast was long considered the gold standard for Star Wars lightsaber combat, many now believe that the two games developed by Respawn Entertainment have surpassed it.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor Could Be Coming To Nintendo Switch 2

According to a recent claim by leaker Nash Weedle on X (formerly Twitter), Disney is working to bring its games, including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. While a specific release date isn’t known, Weedle suggests this is happening to build excitement and ensure players are caught up on the story before the next Star Wars Jedi game, currently being developed by Respawn. The move is reportedly driven by the prestige of these titles and the fact that the story isn’t yet complete.

Like all leaks, this information should be viewed with some skepticism. However, it seems quite plausible. Both Star Wars Jedi games were previously released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is technically possible. Plus, earlier this year, several third-party games were announced for the Switch 2, including Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and Borderlands 4. This suggests Nintendo wants the Switch 2 to be a platform for all kinds of games, not just Nintendo exclusives. If the Star Wars Jedi games also come to the Switch 2, it would further demonstrate Nintendo’s commitment to offering a wide variety of titles on the new console.

As a Star Wars fan and gamer, I’m seriously excited about the future! It feels like Star Wars gaming is really making a comeback. Games like Jedi: Fallen Order and Squadrons kept things going, but the lineup coming up looks amazing – there’s something for everyone. If you need speed, Galactic Racer has you covered. For strategy fans, Star Wars Zero Company looks really promising. We’re still waiting to hear more about Quantic Dream’s Eclipse, and there’s another Jedi game on the way eventually. Plus, the Knights of the Old Republic remake is still happening, and BioWare vet Casey Hudson is working on a brand new RPG called Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic! Honestly, it’s a ton of Star Wars content, and it’s going to keep us fans busy for years to come.
