Final Fantasy 14 Details Year of the Horse Event

Final Fantasy 14 has revealed some new cosmetic items that will be available through the end of 2025. These include items launching with the annual Heavensturn event on New Year’s Eve, and others celebrating the upcoming Year of the Horse. A brand new, tech-themed cosmetic set is also available now, but can only be purchased with real money through the game’s online store.

Just as Final Fantasy 14 released its latest update, version 7.4, players in North America experienced frustrating server problems. Many were randomly disconnected from the game, though not everyone was affected. Initially, Square Enix and players thought a cyberattack was to blame, but it turned out a problem with equipment managed by the Japanese company NTT was the likely cause. Some resourceful players found a temporary fix by using VPNs to route their connections around the faulty equipment while Square Enix worked on a permanent solution.

Final Fantasy 14 Reveals The Last Cosmetics Players Can Get In 2025

Following a recent update to fix a few problems with Patch 7.4, Square Enix has released a new cosmetic set for Final Fantasy 14. The Eastern Technoattire is available now in the FF14 Online Store for $18 and includes five pieces of gear that any character can wear. Each item can be customized with two dye colors, and you can even gift the complete set to a friend. As with other items in the store, players can use the Dreamfitting feature in any inn to preview how the set looks on their character before buying it.

With the new Eastern Technoattire outfit, Final Fantasy 14 also announced the return of its Heavensturn event. Similar to Lunar New Year, Heavensturn celebrates with a different animal theme each year, and this year it’s the Year of the Horse. The event starts on Wednesday, December 31st at 10:00 AM Eastern Time, immediately after the Starlight Celebration ends. It will run until January 15th at 9:59 AM Eastern Time.

During the Heavensturn event in Final Fantasy 14, players level 15 and above can start a special quest called “Seize the Neigh” by talking to the Uma Bugyo in Limsa Lominsa. Completing the event’s horse-themed activities earns players the Uma-no-Unicolt minion and a Gilded Screen for decorating their houses. Previous Heavensturn rewards, like the Great White Tsuchinoko minion, are also available for purchase in the in-game Online Store.

Final Fantasy 14 Has More Fashion Planned In The New Year

The latest Final Fantasy 14 update, 7.4, didn’t include a free Fantasia potion like earlier Dawntrail updates did, but you can currently get them on sale in the game’s Online Store until January 8th. Fantasia potions let players completely change their character’s look – including race and gender – and also give you an hour to make smaller adjustments without using another potion. Normally $10 each, they’re currently on sale for $7, with even bigger savings if you buy multiple potions.

Early 2026 will bring a series of smaller updates for Final Fantasy 14, starting with the challenging Savage version of the Arcadion Heavyweight raids on January 6th. Shortly after, Update 7.41 will introduce new quests focused on Cosmic Exploration and Phantom Weapons, offering players even more rewards. Later in the year, Update 7.45 will add a new dungeon called The Merchant’s Tale, along with the next installment in Hildibrand’s story, which will continue in the Dawntrail expansion. Between these updates and the North American Fan Fest in April, Final Fantasy 14 players have plenty to anticipate in the coming year.
