Escape From Tarkov, the game that popularized the ‘extraction shooter’ genre, spent nearly a decade in development, entering early access in 2017 and officially launching on Steam in November 2025. It quickly gained a loyal following, with many players enjoying the game for years before the full release. Although the launch wasn’t perfect, the game’s popularity has continued, drawing players in with its realistic and intense gameplay. Even after reaching the 1.0 version, the developers, Battlestate Games, aren’t stopping there. They plan to keep updating Escape From Tarkov with new content to maintain its position as a leading game in the extraction shooter space for years to come.

Epic Games has been giving away free games like crazy since it started on December 11th – they’ve practically given us almost $350 worth of titles! Just recently, on December 26th and 27th, they gave away We Were Here Together and Cassette Beasts, which are both awesome.
