One Piece: We’ve Already Seen Loki’s Devil Fruit Before

The Elbaf arc in One Piece is the most eagerly awaited story arc in the series’ long run. When it started with chapter 1126 of the manga, fans were immediately presented with many new mysteries about the world, especially concerning the island’s famous Devil Fruit. This fruit appears to make Prince Loki an incredibly powerful and dangerous character, potentially one of the strongest in the entire One Piece universe.

Since it was first hinted at, the true power of this fruit has been a major topic of discussion among One Piece fans. We finally saw it used in Chapter 1170 when Loki defeated King Harald, who was possessed. With this first look at its abilities, and the official teasers in that chapter, many fans think they’ve figured out what the fruit is. Let’s explore some of the most popular theories.

But First, What Do We Know About The Fruit?

Its Possible Powers

Throughout the One Piece story, only two Devil Fruits have been called ‘legendary’: Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and another mysterious fruit connected to the royal family of Elbaf. This makes the Elbaf fruit especially noteworthy, as its origins likely date back to either the First or Second World, hinting at a very long and significant history.

This Devil Fruit is potentially the strongest in the series, possibly even more powerful than Luffy’s. Loki, who possesses this fruit, defeated King Harald, who was made incredibly strong by a Deep Sea Contract. This is something even masters of Advanced Conqueror’s Haki like Scopper and Shanks couldn’t accomplish. Importantly, Loki did this without Awakening his Devil Fruit, suggesting its base power might surpass even Luffy’s fully awakened Nika form.

Fans didn’t get a clear view of this fruit’s appearance, but it has now been confirmed as a Mythical Zoan type – something fans had long suspected, and which was officially revealed in Chapter 1170. This fruit also dramatically increases Loki’s already enormous size, as demonstrated when he easily held Harald’s face in one hand after transforming.

We got a quick glimpse of Loki’s new Devil Fruit transformation, though it was mostly just a shadowy outline. It showed his hands becoming enormous claws, his body growing much larger, and huge horns sprouting from his head – turning him into a massive, intimidating monster.

Possible Powers For The Accursed Prince

Story Arc Elbaf

Fans have been passionately debating what powers Loki’s Devil Fruit holds in One Piece for over a year, but the author, Oda, remains tight-lipped about it. While the full ability is still unknown, we can make some informed predictions based on what’s been revealed so far.

The leading explanation for what’s happening is that Loki possesses a different version of the Nika fruit. This idea was first suggested during the Elbaf arc, where it was revealed that Nika was known for both destruction and liberation – a concept also shown in the Giants’ mural. When Luffy initially encountered Loki, the Prince alluded to being a Sun God destined to destroy the world, further supporting this theory.

I am the Sun God who will bring about the end of the world!

I’ve been following the discussions, and a lot of fans aren’t buying the current explanation for this fruit’s powers. They point out that a ‘Nika fruit’ is already established in the story, and what we briefly saw in Chapter 1170 doesn’t quite fit with everything else we know about the character. Because of that, another idea is gaining traction: that Loki actually possesses a Mythical Zoan fruit – specifically, the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Fenrir.

Because Loki and Elbaf clearly draw from Norse mythology, the idea that Loki can transform into a massive beast seems likely. We already saw huge claw marks at Aurust Castle, hinting at a more powerful, animalistic form than fans initially thought. His fight against Harald might have shown us a glimpse of this hybrid-Zoan transformation.

Considering everything, there’s a strong possibility Loki’s Devil Fruit is the Nidhogg Mythical Zoan. In Norse mythology, Nidhogg is a huge, frightening dragon that chews on the roots of the World Tree, trying to cause the end of the world – something Loki explicitly stated he wants to do when he first met Luffy.

Evidence strongly suggests Loki possessed the Nidhogg fruit, aligning with details about the battle at Aurust Castle – specifically, the increased size, strength, and claw marks observed. While some unofficial reports hint at this, and a different fruit called the Destroyer Nika seems plausible, the true explanation will likely be unexpected for fans.
